horse hardbone elder girl confirmed

As Trip and Trot make their way past far fields, the other bugs they have encountered have been less than friendly. But hostility is normal for a young hunter and the duo's ability to adapt has proven to be a life saving grace. Despite being the age of a Skarr scout, Trip's choice to use a bone spear instead of a curve claw has proven effective at steering aggressors away from her friend. But it's not like Trot can't care for herself. Her sharp mask and strong legs make her a hard-hitting opponent while her keen eyes allow her to spot threats quickly. Such as a pointy bug pretending to be a stick.
Day 13
two of them
[bones creaking]
this is me if you were wondering
It's so easy to forget how big Hardbones get until you run into an elder.
I love being able to draw the characters in under an hour but the background takes 2 days. Lol, the Hollow Knight style is addicting tho!
Based on Silksong Lore. May contain spoilers based on my interpretations!
Trip is a young skarr hunter who was born during the beginning of the end, just before the skarr truly fell to the haunting. Like most skarr, Tripp was trained in combat by her tribe from birth. She was never the best at it and often fell a bit short compared to others her age, but she always had the rest of her tribe to back her up and was still more skilled than the average bug. She was terrified of being alone and relied heavily on her tribe for support.
Unfortunately, her fears would come to fruition sooner than later. As the haunting progressed, the skarr became more and more aggressive including towards their own. Trip was forced to escape her own tribe. She ran and hid in secluded areas of the far fields, unwilling to fully leave her home. Now on her own, she had trouble surviving. She was a hunter at heart, but one who was still young and had relied on a team to help her. It was sheer luck she stumbled upon Trot.
Trot is a hardbone hopper elder. A herbivorous beast that acts mostly on instinct. Usually, hardbone hoppers are the prey of the skarr, but the circumstances led to change. Trot had also miraculously escaped the haunting, but had recently lost her clutch of eggs to aggressive husks. It was these haunted bugs that cracked her mask. When she stumbles upon Trip something happens. It could be because Trip’s skull mask kinda looks like that of a hardbone hopper, or some latent maternal instinct in Trot, but the hardbone attempted to adopt the ant. Tripp had become weak from failed hunts and was desperate for any companionship. Other hunters would probably look down upon this strange friendship, but Trip feared being totally alone more than she feared breaking nature.
The odd pair are now pretty much inseparable. Despite most skarr her age favoring curveclaws, Trip ended up taking on a bone spear as her weapon to allow for her to strike from Trot’s back. In addition to Trot’s sharp pointed mask and powerful legs, the duo are more formidable and able to defend themselves together. The pair travel around but stick to the lower, wilder regions of Pharloom to avoid the worst of the haunting. They still return to the Far Fields when it feels safest as it is a very nostalgic place for them both. Want to see Trip and Trot's refs? Look here!
