Hi mate! I saw you post about the Musescore mentioned. Can you recommend this editor? I'm quite nervous to pay so much for Finale or Sibelius because i plan to use the sheet music editor software just for fun. Hope to hear your answer!
Musescore is really solid for a freeware sheet music editor, I’d absolutely recommend it for fun. It’s got a pretty intuitive interface and if you can get familiar with the hotkeys it’s actually pretty quick to compose. There’s plugins and macros and such online for some features that Musescore lacks (like, for example, weirdly it has no accelerando/ritardando options, but there’s some community made thing that just manually tempo changes a bunch of incremental times and then hides the notation for it to replicate the gradual shift).
Another thing to consider to enhance your experience is a freeware DAW like LMMS or an audio editor like Audacity for additional processing options that Musescore lacks. What I’ve done before is compose everything as sheet music in Musescore and then either export a .wav to Audacity for post-processing effects or import a MIDI to LMMS to change up soundfonts and add filters and such.
