Betraying the Ones you Love

Short reader insert oneshot in which the League of Villains has blackmailed reader into being the UA Traitor. (TW Major character death)

As you walked down the halls of UA Academy, your phone began to ring. You quickly answered it without checking who was calling.

"Hello?" You said.

"Hello my traitor," A sinister voice you recognized as Tomura Shigaraki spoke. "Have you gotten the files I need?"

"Not yet." You said. "I was actually on my way to get them now."

"Good. Bring them to me as soon as you get them." He said before he hung up.

You sighed and continued down the hallway, stopping in front of the room where all student records and files were found. You looked around, seeing if anyone was watching you. The hallways were empty and you mentally scolded yourself. You were a teacher at UA, why would it be suspicious if a teacher was entering the records room?

You entered the room and went to the filing cabinet labeled with the current year. You quickly pulled out the files of students Shigaraki wanted notes on and copied them on the nearby photocopier. You placed all the files into an empty folder and left the room, heading towards your office. You began to print off every single memo, note, lecture notes, and whatever else was on your computer. You quickly put them in a separate folder and left your office.

As you walked down the hallway, you bumped into Shota Aizawa.

"Where are you off to? Shouldn't you be teaching?" He asked you.

"I have this period off." You said. "And I'm not feeling too well, so I'm heading home."

You tried to keep walking but Aizawa stepped in front of you, blocking your path.

"You haven't been yourself lately. Are you alright?" He asked. "The other teachers and I have noticed that you're more withdrawn and are easily startled."

There was no point in lying to him.

"The League of Villains is holding everyone I care about over my head." You explained. "They're making me run tasks for them, otherwise they'll kill everyone I love."

"Why haven't you said anything?" He asked, concern spreading on his face.

"I was scared." You said, tears beginning to form in your eyes. "I'm sorry Aizawa, but I'm the traitor the faculty has been talking about."

Before he could react, you quickly pushed him, activating your paralysis Quirk. He fell to the ground and you ran out of the school.

You made your way to the bar that Shigaraki frequented and walked in. Shigaraki was in his usual spot at the bar, a can of soda in front of him. Kurogiri was behind the bar, cleaning a few glasses.

"Did you get what we wanted, traitor?" Shigaraki asked, a smirk on his face.

You stepped towards him and dropped the folders on the counter next to him.

"I did what you wanted, now please, let me go." You begged.

"I don't think so." Shigaraki said. "We still need more intel."

"I can't get more intel." You said. "I told one of the teachers that I was the traitor."

Shigaraki stood up and grabbed you by the throat with four of his fingers.

"Why the hell would you do that?"

"I was scared and I didn't mean to." You said.

"You're no longer of any use to me." Shigaraki said.

You felt searing pain on your neck, like someone had poured boiling water on you. You couldn't make a sound as your vocal chords began to slowly decay. You fell to your knees as pain engulfed every cell in your body. After an agonizing few seconds, everything faded away as you ceased to exist.

Selayang Pandang Negeri Nangroe Meminjam istilah 'Le petite histoire' (sejarah kecil) yang pernah dikemukakan Rosihan Anwar, buku berjudul Perempuan Pala yang ditulis Azhari Aiyub ini merupakan serangkaian cerita pendek yang dikemas fiksi, seolah menceritakan sejarah kecil yang bisa berarti sejarahnya orang 'kecil' atau orang-orang yang tidak berpengaruh besar maupun tidak dianggap, namun bisa juga berarti serangkaian peristiwa kecil sebagai fragmen-fragmen yang mengisi peristiwa besar. Penulis yang namanya besar oleh karyanya; 'Kura-kura Berjanggut' ini mencuri perhatian saya. Meskipun belum membaca karya besarnya itu, saya mencoba mulai mengenal lewat 'Perempuan Pala'. Memang, kini kian tumbuh buku-buku tentang peristiwa sejarah 'kecil' yang diceritakan dengan latar daerah di luar Pulau Jawa dan yang membedakan dengan buku lainnya, buku ini dituturkan dengan sarat diksi bahasa Melayu-Aceh hingga membawa saya masuk ke dalam ceritanya yang memang tentang selayang pandang Nangroe Aceh dalam khazanah sejarahnya. Saya selalu suka kumpulan cerita-cerita pendek dengan sudut pandang orang 'kecil' dalam peristiwa besar sebab dari sini perspektif baru diperoleh. Berbagai latar peristiwa dari kesultanan, perang menghadapi Belanda, serangkaian peristiwa sekitar pekai, hingga konflik GAM menjadi kekuatan dalam cerita ini. Nangroe dalam bahasa Aceh berarti Tanah Air, ya saya juga baru tau ini. Tanah air Aceh memiliki sejarah yang amat panjang. Yang cukup menarik perhatian saya, dalam 'Perihal Abdoel Gaffar dan Si Ujud' membuat saya menebak-nebak kisah ini mungkin terinspirasi dari tokoh Snouck Hurgronje yang ditugaskan pada misi perang Aceh oleh Pemerintah Hindia Belanda hingga tercatat dalam sejarah sebagai tokoh penting yang berkontribusi memenangkan perang itu. Selain itu, dalam 'Yang Dibalut Lumut', 'Menunggu Ibu', 'Kupu-kupu Bermata Ibu', kehilangan, penantian dan harapan takluput meliputi perasaan orang-orang yang mengalami sejarah panjangnya.
