Hey I saw ur comment on the Walmart Union post, and got a question. Any unions for Lowe's employees? Specifically, night stockers?
Hey! So Lowes employees would (I assume) organize under the United Food and Commercial Workers. You can find them here.
As for which employees at your store would be included in your union, it’s possible that it would just be stockers, but probably it would be a wider range of employees. Under the National Labor Relations Act, there are a lot of rules about which employee categories go together, but it basically boils down to people who do a similar type of work. So for example, I’m a reporter and all our non-management editorial employees are part of the union, whether they are reporters of copy editors or work for the opinion section or any number of other jobs. Because we’re all editorial employees. The people who do tech support, on the other hand, aren’t part of the union.
The people at UFCW, though, can help you figure that out, since they’re the literal experts on it.
If you want more info on how to get started, you can also check out a post I did a while back here.
