byakugan was pretty much js rendered irrelevant at a point. or at least it was js completely power-crept into it. in the beginning of the show, it was presented at this like dojutsu that rivalled the sharingan, because the hyuga and uchiha were the two strongest clans, etc. so ofc there was neji and hinata that used it and we saw it in the chunin exams. but then by shippuden, the sharingan and all its fucking forms' abilities, like mangekyo, became so absurd that the byakugan just wasn't a competing bloodline technique anymore. the uchiha's eyes had the mangekyo, eternal mangekyo, izanagi, susanoo, plus whatever the hell. and the byakugan largely stayed the same base eye.

even if powerful ppl like neji and hinata, during the pain arc, hinata and her eyes were pretty much useless against pain. then again, he did have the rinnegan and was the leader of akatsuki. but sasuke, kakashi, obito, etc. went against similar opponents and their sharingan was showed to be of far greater use. if the whole point of dojutsus are that they're to be feared, then why was there literally only one in the verse that proved to be truly up to that standard by the end.

even by transitive logic, the abilities certain dojutsu have dumped on them would beat out others. the rinne sharingan that kaguya have would obviously be the strongest, followed by the tenseigan and rinnegan being tied (because the tenseigan allowed toneri to literally telekinetically split the moon in half and the rinnegan allows the ripping out of ppl's souls plus creating big ass meteors. so i tied them). then third would the eternal mangekyo sharingan, not the base one, followed by the normal rinnegan, and the bottom is the byakyugan. like ouch. considering all the fear around the hyuga and their eyes that was shown and logically should exist, they were kinda thrown out for the main characters', aka team 7's, abilities imo. istg there was a complete loss of utility spotlight. there's a fat number of zero parallel power-ups on top of that. I'm not saying it's useless though. realistically, a hyuga in the anbu would be terrifying because there's no chance any of those assassinations fail. but the tactical niche is pretty much the utility, so god knows about the planet-splitting, reality-wrapping, black-fire-spitting eyeballs.

And it's Neji dying in the war when they were 18 and Tenten never getting married or having kids or even being as close to another man as she was to Neji, even though she wanted to get married the most :(

i just know she mourned him for the rest of her life. but they will meet again on the other side, as those two 18 year olds that they were in the war, the last time they were side by side
