Pininfarina’s version of the W113 series “Pagoda” Mercedes-Benz 230SL was the work of 28-year-old American designer Tom Tjaarda, who retained the platform, interior, much of the glass, optics, and the radiator grille from the original SL while completely restyling the bodywork. Presented at the 1964 Paris Motor Show, Tjaarda’s SL was a hardtop coupé planned for small-scale production, but it remained a one-off.

A 1957 Oldsmobile, which looks to be the 98-series Holiday hardtop, and which looks to be sitting in the Styling Yard at the GM Tech Center.  The 3-piece backlight, with the raised roof + decklid seams, were carried over to the ‘58′s.  Note the angled rear bumper.  This pic has been computer-tinted.
