Hardywood Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer (Picked up at Trader Joe's). A 1 of 4. Look, this is well made and has no obvious faults. It's just absolutely not for me -- the vanilla, intense sweetness, and expected speculoos notes just feel extraordinarily out of place. If this were a stout with some roast, it might work better, but I'm not even sure it would. It's just weird.

Hardywood’s Hibiscus Tripel for Trader Joe’s (Picked up at Trader Joe’s). A 3 of 4. Really quite nice with some floral, herbal, and fruity notes in the nose. Some spiciness from the yeast, and the body is quite thin and sweet up front, fading to a dry finish with quite a lot more spice. The hibiscus is not overwhelming, and this delivers somewhat of a standard tripel with just a few deviations.
Hardywood’s Christmas Morning on tap at Bridgewater’s Pub at 30th St. Station in Philadelphia. A 4 of 4. Big and complex -- lots of coffee and candy-like notes throughout and a decent bit of sweetness. The alcohol helps cut through the sweetness towards the finish, but there’s a lot of spice and complexity to this, particularly as it warms.
Not undrinkable, as the name might imply . . .
