#stickynotetoself 608: I never posted this note after #HarithAugustus was shot and killed by police in Chicago. Posting about the story had triggered two white men on Twitter to engage in debate with me and my friend @camicruzthomas to defend the Chicago police department’s action. We never saw eye-to-Eye in the conversation, and I was left with this crucial reminder of reality. As we witness reactions to #NiaWilson’s murder by a white, male assailant in Oakland this week and the ongoing struggles of immigrants, I am reminded once again that we must be more vigilant in protecting the lives and well-being of people of color and other targeted/marginalized groups. I don’t have the answers for how we each can do that, but I know that it is a necessity in society right now.
