it took everything harlow had to keep the snicker inside her, entirely tickled by how poorly this girl hid her surprise from the get-go. thankfully, the guy hitting on her was too perplexed for words; whether it was because he assumed she was straight or something else, harlow will never know. "wow, reddit boards, huh?" the feigned interest was thick on her tongue, bordering sarcasm since she literally couldn't care less. her mission was to save this unnamed stranger and harlow quickly picks up the hint and slides her arm across the other girl's shoulders. "baby, you know how excited i've been to go watch this movie so we can't be late. — move," and with no care as to the amount of respect given to this boy, harlow's shoulder rams straight into his as she guides her 'girlfriend' alongside her.

despite harlow being the one to kick up the facade, she tries her best to hide the surprise that still comes from the other playing alongside her. it was going to be a gamble either way but she's smitten over the fact that actually worked, even more so when the girl she stands beside offers to walk away first. ballsy — amazing. a softer simper takes root and harlow tilts her head ever so slightly. "about time, gorgeous. kept me waiting too long without one while you were going to the bathroom. not all pit stops are worth visiting, you know," clearly referencing the poor guy in front of them. with one more warning glance to the guy who remains standing baffled, harlow turns on her heel and pats the other woman on the shoulder. "drinks are on me."

"oh good. thought i was going to have to drag you away myself," harlow teases gently, relieved that her sudden intrusion hadn't put a bad taste in the other woman's mouth. not only that but she played the part rather well, a warmth of sorts finding purchase on harlow's paler cheeks (though she'll chalk it up to amusement first and foremost). "eh, i tried," she muses with a shrug. "you don't have to but i wouldn't say no to a drink? unless you were actually planning on heading out before that idiot came up to you. i was never looking for repayment or anything."

harlow stops her pacing for a moment to look back at waverly as though she had two heads. didn't she just explain why? "they were literally awake and we were already in the middle of a conversation. did you really think i was going to get up and just start talking to someone else when it was obviously more convenient to stay?" there is little motivation for harlow to tell waverly that yes, she was being a tiny bit petty so she keeps that information to herself, hands now at her waist in-wait for a response. "it's not like it had anything to do with you. your name didn't come up."
