Snippet from chapter 5, The Box Part II:
To the sound of metallic rattling, James pulled a bunch of chains out of the box. Some were as thick as a thumb, while the thinnest was no more than a few millimetres. Most of them were silvery, but a few were more bronze coloured.
“I should have packed them more carefully, they’re all tangled…”
Picking them apart, James separated the chains into three different pieces and laid them out onto the bed.
“What are they for?” Aiden asked, running his fingers along one of them.
“Wearing. This one here, with the thick chains? This goes around the shoulders, and then these chains go across the chest.”
Frowning, Aiden tried to picture it. “Would you wear it… with clothes?”
“You could, but this one looks better bare chested. This other one,” James picked at the harness made of thin silver chains, “looks really good under a blazer though. See how it’s like a halterneck, and the many chains create a front? The silver goes very well with a black blazer that I have.”
