For some reason the top result for "Bayeux tapestry font" is not the correct, up-to-date one on any search engine I've tried... this is the Bayuex tapestry font.

Explore King Harold, a unique typeface from Harold's Fonts, available now Free Download.

Its name is "King Harold" and it was designed by Harold's Fonts. These fonts' Harold (Lohner) embroidered the letters himself to be sure he was getting it right. From the original release:

Although armed with photographs, including some very good close-ups, I still wanted more detail to get the right feel. So I embroidered all the letters and numbers I needed, in imitation of the style of the original, and made the font from scans of my embroidery. I’ve included all the characters that appear on the Tapestry, plus those needed to fill out a modern font. (J, K, U,and Z do not appear in the original.)

At the left is the whole of the alphabet portion of my embroidery, which takes the form of a word-search puzzle containing at least 20 words related to the Tapestry. No prizes for finding them all!

Oh! Wait: I know that font!

So, Dustrial - Future Cult posted this:

and I thought "Hey, is that right? That looks familiar."

So I looked at the movie, and

I thought "Yeah, that looks like it,"

AND I found Dustrial had also posted:

and it sure looks like the font called "12 to the Moon" by Harold Lohner. That font looks like this:

Lohner based it on a typeface featured in a movie, for which the font is named, 12 to the Moon. Lohner doesn't state when he developed the font, and I don't know who came up with the screen images for The Matrix, but you too can download "12 to the Moon" and make stuff yourself. I s'pose if you're inclined, you could do the whole animated effect for your own Matrix inspired film, or game, or something silly on your 'phone.
