My apologies for any slightly fuzzy pics, but it seems that scans of some of my old favourites are hard to come by! To start off a week of my best-loved chapter books and early readers, I've been dying to share Natalie Savage Carlson's "The Half Sisters" (1970) and its sequel, "Luvvy and the Girls" (1971), illustrated by Thomas di Grazia. I remember adoring and so relating to these two heart-achingly touching stories about 12-year-old Luvena Savage, desperate to be a "Big Girl" like her oh-so-elegant older half-sisters, but always lumped in with the "Little Girls", her two small siblings. Until, that is, she finally gets to go away to the longed-for convent school . . . which is not quite what she'd expected! If you're a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder, I cannot recommend these enough!! ⏺ ⏺ ⏺ #NatalieSavageCarlson #ThomasDiGrazia @harpercollinsch @harperkids @harpercollinsca #harpertrophy #childhoodunplugged #childhoodclassic #reading #bookish #booksaboutsisters #childrensliterature #bookcollector #mustread #historicalfiction #childrenshistoricalfiction #oldbooks #chapterbooks #readingismagic #kidsbookshelf #vintagekidsbooks #vintagechapterbooks #middlegrade #bestofbookworms #growingreaders https://www.instagram.com/p/BzWuGFbHYjF/?igshid=1u9d35vux8l6k
