So what if they kissed once. It was the end of a shift that had seemed to drag on for twelve days instead of twelve hours. Their doctor was slow and felt the need to transfer every single patient, putting more work on every member of staff. Harry was stressed. Louis was the one who crowded him up against the door in the break room. It was Louis' fault, he was always pulling shit.
Or Louis is a paramedic and Harry is a nurse. They don’t like each other. Except they really, really do.

So, last week, I was going through a nurse/doctor fic masterpost (sorry I don’t remember who posted that but hey, thank you! ) and I found this great fic I want to talk about today.
According to the author’s notes, a similar fic called ‘fire for a heart’ was published before but I couldn’t find it. Truth is, I’m sure this one was great but please, don’t apologize for finding out that someone got the same idea as you did. Your story is unique and tropes offer endless possibilities.
Take me, an avid soulmate AU reader. I’m waiting for the soulmate challenge that should start soon like I waited for Christmas as a child. Did I read hundreds of soulmates AU so far ? Yes. Do I intend to stop? NEVER. You do you, love, and no one can do it better :)
So back to this fic
- I loved the tension and the banter between H and L from the beginning
- When they finally get their s**t together, it sounds effortless and so natural, I squealed.
- Oh my God, they are just two idiots in love ?!?
- The heavy atmosphere of the ER is so well written, I felt like I wasn’t reading but more like watching everything unfold from an uncomfortable chair in the waiting room (heavily snorting at these two)
- Jealous!Louis ! / Paramedic!Louis / Sassy!Louis : YES YES YES
- My son, Niall James Horan, lurking in the corner, knowing better than anyone is a big yes, forever.
- The smut is HOT, okay ?!
- The end is fluffy, oh god so fluffy, I was smiling like an idiot through the last two paragraphs
- THERE’S A VERY SHORT, VERY FLUFFY PART TWO ?!?
So, yeah, I loved this story and I recommend it 100%. It deserves so many more kudos and praise. You know what to do, as always; read this piece, leave kudos and comment, spread the Larry love.
