Been so busy with work and the baby bang that I haven't had much time to post snippets for the chill Harringrove week yet so have my first one.
Billy Hargrove’s trying to sleep in his car.
Steve’s feet have somehow stopped, frozen in place by either the familiar car or the figure curled up in the backseat. He’s not sure why Billy’s even here but probably no one’s about to check the parking lot of Family Video at this time of night. There’s guards at the high school, the mall, but no one’s going to give a shit about the few stores still standing in the center of town.
He looks around but the rest of the lot is mostly empty. The Camaro definitely hadn’t been here when he’d turned up for his shift, nor had it been parked when Steve had started to close up for the night. Which probably means that it has been done by design, turning up just when everything was closing up for the night and fewer people would come along this way.
Steve shifts his weight, stomach churning uncomfortably. He doesn’t want to get involved but the weather is fucking awful out here, a bitter chill in the air, and the ever present threat of snow. Billy’s going to have a very unpleasant night out here, if he even survives it at all.
Oh, fuck.
