The Oregon Coast at Brookings, 1963

I captured this image on a foggy early October day at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings Oregon. By shooting somewhat laterally to the incoming waves and using a somewhat slow shutter speed, the waves created some very nice “leading lines” toward the sea stacks which appeared layered in the misty fog.

While on a mini-vacation to Harris Beach State Park in Brookings Oregon with my wife there was more than one occasion when I walked down to the beach in full sun to have fog roll in within just minutes. When it rolled in one could watch it move across the land and sea quite quickly. This was one of those occasions. I captured this frame at the southern end of the south beach of two in the park. The overall mood of the image with the sun still somewhat burning through the fog in the distance just says “coastal” to me.

Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Oregon

The weather in Oregon has been incredible for this time of year!! We're moving south slowly to enjoy these spring-like days and avoid the smoke in California. The night before last we had an incredible sunset at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings. Yes, it really looked like this but only for a few short minutes. I was the only person left on the beach when clouds turned colour. Love Oregon!!
