I has a sad Haley :'( and I normally come here to feel better. A good friend of mine passed away due to blood cancer. #FUCKCANCER. (Sorry for swearing), but I was wondering if you could write a blurb where Harry comes with me to the funeral, consoling me. Sorry if this is morbid
It was not a morbid request, just sad. I’m so very sorry to hear about your friend. Sorry that you have to know the pain that comes with losing someone you love. I know the mark that pain leaves on your heart, so please, don’t hesitate to come to me in the future, if you ever need someone to listen. I’m also sorry that I wasn’t able to write this until now, but I hope it’s what you were wishing for. x ————-
It was quiet as you rode in the passengers seat of Harry’s car. Too quiet, you thought. Your gaze drifted out the window, a few sprinkles falling from the greying sky, now tapping a light rhythm against the glass. You watched the world roll past, the trees and other cars all blurring together as you drove down the unfamiliar street. Your mind felt tired. Your eyes still felt raw from crying the night you’d gotten the phone call. The night your world suddenly cracked. The night your friend passed away— fighting the last of a terrible battle with cancer, until there was no more fight left. A single tear escaped down your cheek, but you brushed it away as Harry’s tender grasp came to rest on your bare thigh. He rubbed his thumb gently across the skin exposed beneath the black dress you wore. He didn’t say anything. He didn’t have to. There weren’t any words that could take the pain away. No words that could bring your friend back to you. But knowing he was there— having him beside you for this day— made your heart feel like it stood a chance at being whole again, someday. You peered back at him, his emerald eyes mirroring the pain he saw on your face. His lips pressed into a forced smile before quickly returning his attention back to the road ahead. You approached the cemetery then. Saw the cars lining the road— so many people had come to pay their respects. The leaves were a beautiful shade of green, a tiny sliver of sunlight finally breaking through the cover of clouds just as the ceremony commenced. You stood beside Harry, body leaning into his lean torso for support as you watched them lower your friend into the ground. The tears hung heavy in your eyes—unshed—trapped within the mascara coated lashes beneath your reddened eyes. Harry tightened his grip on your waist, turning your body for you to bury your face into his chest. “I’m so sorry, love.” His voice was a broken whisper, trying his best to hold back his emotion while he held you close. “I love you, so much,” he murmured, lips pressing to the top of your head while you stained his shirt with fresh tears. You inhaled deeply, committing the sweet scent of Harry to memory. Eyes squeezed tight, you fought to remember all the beautiful memories you’d shared with your friend, grateful to have known the amazing person they always were. You clung to your tall boyfriend, allowing him to hold your broken pieces together with his capable and consoling arms while you silently cursed the universe for the Cancer that stole your friend’s youth.
