HUGtto! Pretty Cure Origin Story

Mother Heart is a winged lioness and the Goddess of Time and Love. She was born a century in 7884 BCE after Mother RaPaPa’s demise, to become the next guardian of Mobius. At first, Vanessa was unhappy with Mother Heart's birth, feeling like the Universe was trying to erase Mother RaPaPa. However, Mother Heart explained that the Universe knew of the Linkle Smartbook and that it would take many millennia before her reincarnation was set free. Mobius needed a guardian now, and she was created to watch over it. Vanessa believed her and brought her to the Crystal Empire to introduce her to her family and to discuss her powers. After meeting her nieces and nephew, they went to Vanessa’s workshop, where Mother Heart explained how her time powers worked. When she was done explaining the two decided it would be best to make it harder for someone to stop or control time.

Mother Heart also revealed Tomorrow Powder, which is the source of her power. It was created when she was born and helps guide the future. Vanessa also asked if she could make something to tie the future of her world to so she could watch them. Mother Heart told her that she could but by doing so, if she made more worlds then the same objects would be made for them too. Together, they created two objects, Time Books and Mirai Crystals, later when Vanessa made more worlds these items were made for them too by Mother Heart.

Time Books use Tomorrow Power to print the future of each world on its pages, it can also see the future of anything in that world (however it's a spell that you use for this, you use the spell on an item and then you can see that things future), freeze time but only of the world it represents, and be used to teleport to the past of that world. However, the person who went to the past can’t leave that world, or they’d be teleported back to their time. No one can use the Time Books to teleport to the future. Vanessa kept the Time Books in the Crystal Castle’s library for safekeeping.

They also created eleven Mirai Crystals for each world, which are the solid form of Tomorrow Power and very powerful. In order to stop time permanently, someone would need all eleven Mirai Crystals of that world and you couldn’t use another world's Mirai Crystals, it wouldn’t work. You can also stop time by collecting a lot of Tomorrow Powder but you need the same amount that's in all eleven Mirai Crystals and that takes a lot of time and effort. Mother Heart became the guardian of them and all future ones.

A month after Cure Whip, Cure Custard, Cure Gelato, Cure Macaron, and Cure Chocolat defeated Elisio, Diabolos was in a rage, he couldn’t believe that they managed to defeat him. He decided to make another Negative Boss since the power he had used with Noir had returned to him. However, he realized that he had used a lot of his magic on making his other Negative Bosses. He then had an idea to turn someone on Mobius into a Negative Boss - someone drowning in negativity and has a strong desire but is impossible to accomplish.

He started to search Mobius for such a source but he couldn’t seem to find it. That was until he was over the outskirts of Hagukumi City, he felt a powerful desire. He followed it and found that the desire was coming from a male black swan of twenty years. Diabolos was ecstatic, this swan had a powerful desire and would make a fine Negative Boss. However, when Diabolos tried to push his magic into that desire he found that the desire wasn’t there. Confused, he looked again and discovered that the desire wouldn't manifest until 30 years in the future, which infuriated him. He decided to investigate what the desire is. He sees that in the swan’s future, his wife, whom he loved more than anything, would die, throwing him into despair. The swan's desire is a future where everyone is smiling.

Diabolos looks on in shock as he tries to find a way to even do that. He thinks of ways but he knows that the only reason the swan has that desire is because of his wife and that if he suggests any method of force he wouldn’t agree to it. Then he thinks of a way; freezing time so that nothing can move forward and happiness remains. In addition to that, if time doesn’t move his power will remain on Mobius forever, and no more Cure’s will be created. However, he needed to find a way to give the swan in the future his magic and guide him from the present, find a time-stopping spell, and ensure that Mobius was the only thing that froze because if he froze the whole Universe not only would Diabolos be frozen but he also knows that a time freezing spell didn't work on Vanessa. However, she also can’t use any time spells unless she put it in an object and even then she still couldn’t use it. Diabolos was also sure that, since Sapphire has her mother’s power she too wouldn’t be affected, now if she had the same effect as Vanessa did, he had no idea. He then remembered a powerful book that could solve most of his problems - the Mobius Time Book.

He sent one of his generals to steal it, which caused chaos in the Crystal Castle. Once Diabolos had the Mobius Time Book in his hands he used it to cast the swan's future on a crystal ball. A picture of the swan, now older, sitting in a hospital waiting room after they told him his wife was dead. Diabolos smiled as he watched before corrupting the book, making it so that the swan would become a Negative Boss once he gave him the book. When he looked back he saw that the swan was now sitting under a gazebo by himself. Perfect. Diabolos started to push his power into the desire and it worked. He learned that the swan’s name was George Kurai. Diabolos offered him the power to create a world of eternal happiness by freezing time so that nothing can move forward and happiness remains. George initially refused, but when Diabolos mentioned his wife, George accepted. Diabolos sent him the book, and the minute it was in his hands, power pulsed through his veins, turning him into a Negative Boss.

Diabolos explained how the book worked, what Tomorrow Powerer was as well as Prickly Powerer, negative energy that others can spread. However, there was one thing Diabolos forgot about that they needed; the eleven Mirai Crystals of Mobius. Diabolos was angry that he had forgotten about them, he knew that there was no way he could get them now because not only would they be heavily guarded now that he stole the Time Book but they weren’t even in the Crystal Empire they were protected by Mother Heart. Diabolos wasn’t stupid enough to send any of his generals or even one of his bosses to go steal them from her because not only would she destroy them but so would the other goddess once she called them to help her. Soon, however, Vanessa solved his problem, leading to a bigger issue.

Back at the Crystal Empire, after Diabolos’ general stole the Time Book, Vanessa and Sapphire were in panic mode. They knew he would use the book to create another Negative Boss, and they needed the same type of magic to create Cure items. However, their panic only increased when they discovered who the new Negative Boss was or rather, where he was from. Vanessa desperately needed the book's spells to send a Cure team to fight the boss. That is until Amethyst came forward. She revealed that she had once studied the book to learn about Time Magic, but since she could not take the book out of the room, she had taken pictures of the pages. Sapphire asked if she still had the pictures, but Amethyst gave her a look, causing Sapphire to apologize for asking.

Vanessa then contacted Mother Heart for the Mirai Crystals, who gave them to her. However, Mother Heart told her that if she makes new ones, they will not be linked to the world's future’s Tomorrow Powerer supply and rendered useless with the help of stopping time. The Cheerful and Mother Heart Mirai Crystals were the only ones Vanessa made.

Later, Sapphire asked her mother who the next Cure team would be, and Vanessa replied that she would be making the team herself. Sapphire was surprised and asked why. Vanessa explained that no one in that future had the potential or responsibility to take on such a burden (this is because, A it’s the future so all the girls are adults or haven’t been made yet and B, one of them is dead and the others took on other futures because they had no one to help them stick to the path they wanted or help them realize what they wanted). Sapphire then mentions that most of the Cures who have defected the bosses before were teenagers with the youngest being nine, but she did have potential and responsibility. While a handful of adult Cures had locked away bosses or perished while battling them. Vanessa tells her that while that may be so this time is different. Additionally, if she created the team, they would not need a civilian form, meaning fewer Mirai Crystals would be out in the open. Sapphire then asked how many Mirai Crystals Vanessa planned to send out. Vanessa held up the white Mirai Crystal.

Before Sapphire could say anything, her siblings arrived with four different Earth animals - a squirrel, a bluejay, a chickadee, and a fennec fox. Sapphire looked at her mother, confused, but Vanessa smiled and turned all four animals into Cures before sending them to the future Mobius. There was just one problem with her mother’s plan, well scratch that, there were a lot of problems. The biggest one was that the Cures lacked something to fight for, unlike other Cures who fought for their family, friends, and just anyone else they cared for, a reason to keep going. Because they had no one to fight for, something that could be stripped from them at any point, they couldn’t power up their attacks, and because her mother had only granted them one group attack, which relied on strong emotions to power up, they weren’t winning in the slightest.

As George's Criasu Corporation expanded, the Cures struggled to keep up. Sapphire soon gave up on them but soon she gained hope for one in particular; Cure Tomorrow, the squirrel, after she went into Criasu Corporation and freed a hamster Flicky who was overwhelmed by Prickly Powerer, turning him into a monster. After she saved him her team was defeated. When they were Vanessa was livid and tried to bring the magic she used to create them back to her but Sapphire convinced her to spare Cure Tomorrow and explained her plan. She showed Vanessa the sketches of the items she and her siblings created, explaining how each worked, which impressed her.

When the monster of Criasu Corporation, Oshimaida, tries to finish Cure Tomorrow off, she is protected by the white Mirai Crystal. Diabolos realized that this was Vanessa’s doing and ordered George to capture Cure Tomorrow and take the white Mirai Crystal, but it always returned to Tomorrow no matter what they put it in. They locked her in a cage and tried to manipulate her, but she refused to cooperate.

Meanwhile, Sapphire and her siblings created items while Vanessa looked through the present Hagukumi City to find people worthy of being Cures. Once the items were done they showed them to Vanessa who was happy they were done but angry that she couldn’t find the ones to be Cures. Sapphire suggested looking beyond the present to the past and future, leading to the selection of the new Cures. Vanessa powered up the items and linked them to a card before asking Mother Heart for help with the next team, and she agreed. They find the hamster Flicky, Harry, and show him a dream of Cure Tomorrow in captivity. They hoped he would go and free her. He soon runs off to help her.

They attempted to escape, but a Criasu Corporation employee tried to stop them. Harry turns back into his hamster form, then tries to break the chain keeping his monster side at bay but Tomorrow stops him and pulls out the white Mirai Crystal and pleads for Mother Heart's help. Vanessa uses a spell from the Time Book, from the pictures Amethyst took, and sends them back to the present, 2018. Vanessa also turns Cure Tomorrow into a baby squirrel Mobian Cure Spirit and Harry into a Cure Flicky. When Harry opens his eyes he sees he is flying over a city, confused he looks over at Cure Tomorrow to ask what’s going on only to see she is a baby. She then lets out a cry which causes a mass time freeze, except for four girls selected by Vanessa to become Cures.

The two land outside the city near a lake. While Harry tries to find out what is going on, Sapphire and Vanessa watch. Sapphire comments how she is impressed he hasn’t gone nuts yet. Just then Mother Heart walks in and asks why Vanessa wanted to see her. Vanessa explains the situation to her, requesting that she go there and tell Harry what to do next to which Sapphire then says, “before he freaks out and tries to on his own.” Mother Heart listens as Vanessa tells her what to say before leaving and appearing in front of Harry on the lake's surface. Harry is surprised but then realizes who she is and Baby Cure Tomorrow seems to know who she is too. Harry asks her what is going on and she tells him she will tell him everything. She tells him where he is, what happened to Cure Tomorrow, and what he must do now.

Once she is done she gives him the four PreHeart and the Mirai Pad and explains how each item works. Harry then asks how he is going to carry all of this stuff, Mother Heart gives him a suitcase that he can store them in. She also gives him some stuff for Baby Cure Tomorrow and explains how they work. By this time it is night so Harry asks where they are going to stay. Mother Heart tells him that she will send them to one of the future Cure’s houses but he can’t tell her she is a Cure.

She then blasts them off to the Cure’s house before appearing next to Vanessa back in her workshop and asking how she did. Sapphire tells her aunt did good and that she was impressed that Harry kept it together. Vanessa then says that while she was talking to Harry, George used the Time Book to transfer the Azababu branch office to the present. Mother Heart says she felt it when she was down there. They then watch as the first Cure, Hana, names Baby Cure Tomorrow, Hugtan.

When Ruru changes her ways and becomes friends with the Cures, Sapphire suggests turning her into a Cure. Vanessa is against it at first but after seeing her get along with Emiru and how close they become she agrees. She also decides to make them partners and create another PreHeart. When the time comes for Ruru and Emiru to transform, Vanessa hands the second PreHeart to Mother Heart and asks if she'll do the honors.

When George is defeated, Diabolos sends one of his generals to retrieve the discarded Time Book, but Mother Heart snatches it, purifies it, and disappears, giving it back to Vanessa.

When the time comes for Ruru, Harry, Hugtan, and the reformed villains to return to the future, Sapphire realizes that if they return to the future Hugtan will turn back into Vanessa’s magic. Sapphire then asks if there was someone to prevent it. Vanessa said that she could link her to one of the girls so that when she has a child it will be Hugtan. Sapphire suggests Hana because she has the strongest bond with her, Vanessa agrees. Once the train taking them back to the future hits the portal Vanessa casts the spell.
