my babies :-D
i assign a twin peaks character to everyone i know irl and once i have decided it is impossible to change my mind
Twin Peaks (1990)
My headcanons for if you were dating Sheriff Harry S. Truman because he doesn’t have enough representation and he’s just the coolest. For the sake of this just assume it’s after Josie’s death for his character development, but they've been friends. Also because it’s MY headcanons there’s going to be a 10 year age gap because that makes me giddy.
Yo also there’s slight spoilers so uh be warned
Thoughts:
Harry is obviously a gentleman. He walks on the outside of the sidewalk by the street, he opens every car door, pulls out every chair, and always offers his jacket if it’s cold outside (even if it’s way too big).
You still have nightmares of the Black Lodge sometimes and will wake up screaming and crying. He’ll hold you and rub your back until you’re feeling okay again.
He asks for consent or permission before doing anything because he’s worried about making you uncomfortable. Even if it’s just a kiss or he wants to hold your hand he always asks, “is this alright?” “can I kiss you?” “can I touch you?”.
Whenever he gets home, he takes off his hat and puts it on your head. It usually falls over your eyes, but it always makes him laugh.
Hawk loves to harass both of you about each other, “got him on a tight leash today huh?” “you’re already dating her Harry you don’t have to make those eyes every time she steps into the station,”.
He likes to know where you are at all times. After Laura, Maddy, and Josie he doesn’t trust the world like he used to. One time you were out hiking alone taking photographs and forgot to tell him you’d left. He nearly called the other deputies to start a search. From then on you leave a note saying when you’ll be back.
You sometimes catch him staring off, deep in thought. You always ask him what he’s thinking about. Some day he’ll be ready to talk about it.
He doesn’t really understand fashion (he really just wears his work khakis even when he’s not at work), but begrudgingly accepts when you drag him to the nearest mall which is over an hour and a half outside of town. You two only agree on a new sweater for him.
You both get into birdwatching and get excited whenever you hear a new bird call.
You spend enough time around him you become an unofficial Bookhouse Boy
Despite Dale leaving (stuck in the Black Lodge and the doppelganger skipping town eventually), you and Harry have both picked up the habit of giving each other over-enthusiastic thumbs up.
Walks close behind you when you’re out in public, hand always on the small of your back.
Still blushes every time you cat call him from the front porch while he’s chopping wood, “looking good sheriff!”.
Lucy always laughs at the old (before you were together) Twin Peaks Sheriff Department Christmas Party photo where you and Harry are standing beside each other both looking like you’re trying very hard not to touch hands.
Let’s you win at pool.
Harry keeps nearly everything you give him. You find wildflowers you gave him pressed into books months later. He keeps the little lunch notes you wrote him stockpiled in his desk at the station. You got him a cassette of Muddy Waters that he insists he’ll fix long after the tape has gone knotted up.
He buys an extra flannel because you always steal his.
After everything that’s happened in town, both of you love doing the most mundane little things together as dates. Going grocery shopping, getting coffee at the Double R cafe, watching the sunset by the lake. Neither of you assume tomorrow is guaranteed anymore, so you make the most of every little minute together.
If you both have the day off he will drag you back into bed under the covers over and over again if you try to get up to do household chores or start coffee.
Big on forehead kisses.
FAVORITE: you both secretly know how to swing dance from your high school/college years in the bars and just never told each other until one night at the Roadhouse you two dance and laugh all night to the townspeople of Twin Peaks shock and awe.
Spicy 18+ headcanons:
Harry likes being older and taller/larger than you in general, especially in the bedroom. He likes that you can let your guard down and feel safe around him in such an intimate setting.
Takes a lot of reassurance that you do want to have sex with him, especially near the beginning of the relationship just because he really doesn’t want to force you into anything.
He’s a pretty vanilla guy in the bedroom just because he’s traditional but he tries to be open minded for whatever makes you feel good.
Knows his giant hands on your body drives you crazy and that knowledge is the only thing he’ll take advantage of.
He gets smitten every time he sees you in just your underwear or in a bikini at the lake. Even if he’s seen what’s under it all many times before he can’t get over how beautiful you look.
Once (or…maybe twice) when he brings the patrol car home you’re able to get him to recline the driver's seat and ride him in the driveway. You love how he stammers over his words whenever you talk about the car from then on.
Tries to keep up with your younger self sex drive but often can’t. You two get creative though as he won’t allow you to go to bed unhappy.
Always gets you whatever tea you want after sex and makes sure you’re comfortable.
js watched the first episode of twin peaks the return and i cant wait to find out what everything means 😭
Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) unexpectedly ascended to the presidency on April 12, 1945, following the sudden death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Having served as vice president for just 82 days, Truman was thrust into the role of Commander-in-Chief with little preparation, famously remarking to reporters that the stars and all the planets had fallen on him. He immediately inherited the monumental task of concluding the war in Europe and managing an ongoing conflict in the Pacific. Within months of taking office, Truman was faced with the ultimate wartime choice: authorizing the deployment of the newly developed atomic bomb. To force an unconditional surrender and avoid a costly amphibious invasion of the Japanese mainland, he approved the atomic bombings of Hiroshima on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. These devastating strikes, coupled with the Soviet entry into the war, compelled Japan to surrender on August 14, bringing a decisive end to World War II.
With the dawn of the atomic age and the rapid fracturing of the wartime alliance with the Soviet Union, Truman assumed a foundational role in shaping the early Cold War global order. He established the bedrock of American foreign policy with the Truman Doctrine in 1947, pledging military and economic support to democratic nations resisting authoritarian containment. To fortify a devastated Western Europe against communist influence, his administration engineered the Marshall Plan, channeling over $13 billion in economic reconstruction aid. When the Soviets blockaded West Berlin in 1948, Truman demonstrated unwavering resolve by launching the historic Berlin Airlift, successfully supplying the besieged city by air for nearly a year without triggering an armed conflict.
Truman's leadership fundamentally restructured both international defense networks and the domestic American security apparatus to counter Soviet aggression. In 1949, he spearheaded the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), marking the first peacetime military alliance in United States history. Domestically, his enactment of the National Security Act of 1947 radically modernized the U.S. government by uniting the armed forces under the Department of Defense, while simultaneously establishing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Council (NSC). Through these lasting geopolitical frameworks, Truman successfully consolidated Western democratic defenses and established the institutional blueprint that guided American foreign policy for the next half-century.
i need a trip to the pacific northwest 💔
