Summary:- Their first meeting in this life, like all the others before, is absolutely magical.
Pairings:- Harry Styles x Fem!Reader
Warnings:- Very cliche. Kinda poetic (i’ve been writing a lotta poetry, sue me)
AN:- So, this is my first time writing Harry. I’ve only been in the fandom for 4 days, so I think it’s clear to see how fucked I already am for that boy. Anyhow, HOPE YOU ENJOY LOVEYS!
The consistent, comforting noise of raindrops splattering against the ground provided (Y/N) with some comfort after the exhausting day she’d had. She was walking back to her dorm from her friend’s apartment after a tiring, and irritatingly unfruitful couple of hours spent poring over homework.
Most people would think of rain to be inconvenient at a time such as that, but (Y/N) had always found tremendous amounts of comfort in the rain. It never failed to reminded her of fun days spent splashing around in puddles and having hot cocoa while sitting on the porch.
(Y/N) smiled as she reminisced about simpler times, and became so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t notice the boy standing in the shade of a tree beside her. A cough pulled her out of her reverie though, and she looked around in search of the source.
It was then that (Y/N) (L/N) first found herself laying eyes on Harry Edward Styles.
Their eyes met, and there was immediate electricity to their gaze. The air between them crackled and hissed in anticipation, both shivering involuntarily due to the cold breeze.
Even the steady sound of the rain seemed to hold its breath in order to properly commemorate their meeting- if only for a moment. (Y/N) realized with a start that she had walked up to the beautiful stranger unknowingly.
She didn’t feel in control of her own body, and could only watch as she raised her hand and held it vertically in the air. (Y/N) watched on as the boy did the same and slowly, almost painstakingly, they allowed their fingertips to touch.
The static that sparked caused both of them to draw their hands back and snap out of their trance. Still, (Y/N) couldn’t help but look at the boy in front of her with furrowed eyebrows; there was something she couldn’t quite figure out about him- something she knew but couldn’t place.
Standing underneath the weathered oak, gorgeous curls unruly and wet and face drawn in an almost whimsical expression, (Y/N) thought he looked as if he had come straight out of a fairytale. And perhaps he had.
Perhaps they both had. Perhaps, (and it really wasn’t so hard to believe considering the otherworldly first interaction the two had first had) they had met before- in a different life. In a multitude of different lives, maybe even a handful of alternative realities.
Perhaps they had always met the same way, with the rain and the electric eye contact and the electric first touch. Perhaps they were two souls, combined in the most intricate way with each other- destined to meet in every incarnation they were blessed with.
Destined to meet and fall for one another’s charms, destined to love each other until their fragile mortal bodies weathered away- much like the oak they met under in this life. The two were now standing impossibly close to each other- as close as they could without touching.
As they stared into one another’s eyes, they could almost see their previous lives intertwined into the very fabric of their souls- entire buildings of memories erected by their previous selves; rooms full of content smiles and happiness and love of the purest kind, but also entire floors made up of tears and longing and pain.
It was beautiful, but so incredibly overwhelming to experience; as if they were living and reliving their lives, past, present, or future- all at once. As if there were a thousand versions of them scattered across the universes and in time, all meeting and falling in love and having fights and breaking up and getting back together.
It was perfectly cataclysmic. As soon as the copious amounts of memories and information had started to be stored by their small human brains though, it was forgotten. Forgotten, because their brains couldn’t possibly handle all that information and stay sane- if the brain is to the body what a hard drive is to a computer, there was a memory limit.
And so, (Y/N) found herself shaking her head slightly and backing up from the stranger, apologies spilling from her mouth like a fluid fountain before they were stopped by the handsome stranger’s assuring it was okay.
The two looked at each other and finally introduced themselves, the other’s names falling from their lips in a way that could be described as recognition, but also utter reverence - though they were wholly unaware as to why.
As soon as they started conversing, it was as if a dam had been opened. Words flowed from their mouths like water in a river; fluid and constantly varying, not a moment of awkward silence between them.
They sat under the oak tree, it shading them from the rain, just talking to each other. Before sunset, it was as if they had known each other their whole lives- and, although that particular notion may be wrong, they did certainly know each other from before.
Later, much later in life- (Y/N) and Harry maintained that the single purpose of their entire lives was to be present at the oak tree that day, on the exact moment of their meeting. They knew the very idea was laughable; that it was an unbelievable romantic cliché of the worst sort, but that didn’t stop them from believing in it.
It didn’t stop them from knowing that every single choice they had made prior to meeting each other, every step they had taken, every path they had walked- had lead to their meeting.
All the impossible variables that had to be set right in order for their meeting to be possible were set right because it was crucial to the universe that they met. It was vital. And why wouldn’t it be? After all, they were destined.
AN:- Okay, so I’m really excited to be putting this out so I really hope you enjoyed it! Please leave feedback if you did, and I hope you have an amazing day either way!
