take a few of my all-time fav hcs that i dont talk about often. as thanks for a very sweet ask.

☆ harper doesn't use pet names very often, and honestly, david prefers it that way; the affectionate insults feel grounding. anything from hotshot to harper casually throwing bitch his way with a note of fondness in his voice is a reminder that david doesn't have to change himself for harper's affection. it's been there all along.

☆ bless him, harper is shit at emotional vulnerability, but he's good at reading david. when david is dissociating or needs something to focus on or comfort, harper usually can nudge him halfway to asking for what he needs and he can fill in the gaps.

☆ david clocked harper as having some heavy internalized homophobia very early on into their friendship, and resigned himself to patiently waiting for harper to speak up first when he realized that they were both a little closer than friends. he knew he was in love with harper, but he didn't want to push harper if he didn't want david, too.

thus, it's harper that confesses first, because david would never want to push him too far into something he wasn't willing to confront<3

☆ woods doesn't really love harper but that's because harper reminds him of himself, and david's open affection for him makes him think of david's old man. do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to realize how obvious you and your best friend must have been, because you see yourself in your godson/adopted nephew/sorta-son and his new partner who acts too much like you? it's awful. david won't stop snickering about it.

☆ if harper's face gets burnt, david likes kissing the scar gently whenever harper's having a hard day. david's loyalty and love is not conditional to harper's appearance or physical capabilities, and it never will be. harper hasn't figured that out yet, but it's alright. david's patient. they'll get there.
