Went by the #RonaldMcDonaldHouse BC today, one of my favorite #MichaelGreenArchitecture projects. Built in 2013, it utilizes an innovative hybrid #CLT + #TJI structure, though looking at the building you'd never know it was #masstimberconstruction. The design concept is four interconnected houses, each serving roughly 18 families. Energy efficiency was also prioritized. No photography allowed inside, but beautiful images can be found on the #MGA website. Back in North America! Met this morning with Craig Curtis, president of #Katerra, a new company seeking to close the productivity gap in the construction industry by optimizing every aspect of development, design, and construction. Followed up an incredibly informative meeting with #ETHZurich's Dr. Frangi with a #selfie at the #Arc_Tec_Lab, with its #sequentialroof. Dr. Frangi is a structural engineer and researcher, and his knowledge of timber in terms of both technology and the market seemingly knows no bounds. Among other things he helped develop the Swiss fire code.
