Sometimes I wish the Pokémon autism didn’t take over me completely as a kid… cause ngl when people talk about their nostalgic childhood video games or cartoons, I could not relate to much of those media because I only cared about Pokémon at the time. Sometimes I wonder why I even fucking loved that series so much.

I think I missed out on so much man… haven’t had a Minecraft phase, haven’t watched a single SpongeBob episode before. Even if I get into it now, I think some of the magic is lost because I didn’t experience it as a kid…

A pet peeve I have with Uma designs of irl horses is that if the horse won the Kentucky Derby, the Uma would wear roses simply because they won that race. Not wrong I guess but I think that adds very little to the whole design. Must every Kentucky Derby winner have the roses then? Must every Triple Crown winner be surrounded with roses, black eyed susans and carnations? It’s quite limiting…

The thing is I do use roses sometimes. My version of Ferdinand (1986 Kentucky Derby winner) does love flowers, specifically the rose. However it’s because Ferdinand’s name is confirmed to be based off the main character of the book ‘The Story of Ferdinand’, about a bull who would ‘much rather smell the flowers than fight in bullfights’. Uhhh yeah end of yap

I came across a Notes page I made regarding how Umamusume work in my AU. I’m just gonna copy and paste everything here

Ive been doing a bit of worldbuilding for my horsegirl universe. It’s still kinda Umamusume related but I feel like it strays too far away from it to call it so.

Horse girls here age like actual horses. 

Jockeys do exist in this world, along with trainers. They are able to see in the perspective of a horse girl and communicate with them through a form of ‘telepathy’ (Anyone could do this in fact, it’s just that the horse girl has to consent for it to get though, and she is able to cancel the connection anytime). Jockeys were thus deemed a necessary part of horse girl racing due to these abilities. They can calm the horse girl down when they are stressed and tell them when to properly use their energy. It is the horse girl and trainer who decide which running style is best, while the jockey makes sure that the horse girl runs that way, or switch when needed.

However, there had been some debate in modern times over the power dynamic between girl and jockey. Most of the time they work together fine, some are even inseparable, but there is always the risk of jockeys verbally abusing the girl under the guise of just ‘their way of doing their job’.

For example, Spectacular Bid’s jockey forced her to run fast from the get go during the 1979 Belmont Stakes in an attempt to beat Secretariat’s record, although that isn’t her usual running style, and she stepped on a safety pin before the race. The Bid felt horrible after finishing fourth not just because of the placing, but because even with her jockey’s ‘help’, she still wasn’t even close to her idol, and it meant she wasn’t good enough…

Also horse breeding does sorta exist? The process is called ‘legacy making’. You need a stallion (horse girl with accessory on their right side, ‘male’) and mare (horse girl with accessory on their left side, ‘female’) and a pregnant human woman (with the baby preferably still undeveloped, otherwise there’s no effect). The stallion and mare do their gay ass hand holding (like what Umamusume does) for a while, and then it’s done. The human woman will give birth to a horse girl. 

The family pays the two participating horse girls to do it, and they can pay BIG. That’s why some horse girls retire early from racing. It’s generally agreed that legacy making is like arranged marriage, and that the stallion and mare don’t necessarily love each other. 

There are times when legacy making doesn’t work. IRL, the mating between Genuine Risk and Secretariat resulted in stillborns, but in my AU, Genuine Risk is just unable to perform it well.

All legacy makings are recorded in something equivalent to a pedigree book. Inbreeding is still a problem here, buts it’s not like successful sires like Northern Dancer or Mr Prospector WANT that to happen, it’s the humans that do it.

Since ‘stallions’ and ‘mares’ exist here, geldings exist too. The parents of a yearling (one year old horse girl) can opt their child for gelding. It’s not actual castration. The doctor would inject something into the horse girl which makes them infertile, and then take off whatever accessory is on the ear. It’s such that the horse girl would be less rowdy, but well sometimes it’s doesn’t work as expected. They still get the reputation of being troublemakers
