Day 1 Of Nursing School
Damn, I almost missed my second flight to Albany, NY.
My first flight was delayed 45 minutes which caused my layover (54 minutes) to be shorter. I realized my second flight was boarding and I was still in the air. Lol great. I really thought I was going to miss this flight. Like realllly thought I was. I was having major anxiety attack asking questions like, “Will they wait for me?”or “What if the next available flight isn’t until tomorrow?” Omgggggg. I’m thankful for when the cabin crew made an announcement for people who have a tight time frame for their next flight can leave immediately while people who have flights in a couple hours or if it’s their last stop wait in their seats. When the plane finally landed, I rushed my booty to the next gate. It was about 15 minutes away. I only had 15 minutes. So I lightly jogged for the first few minutes then I was like fuck it, I’m going to run. I’m NOT going to miss my first day of move in/orientation!!
I eventually made it and the check-in lady was like “Where did you come from?” I replied, “SFO”. “Good! That means there more of you coming!” So the flight ended up being delayed a couple minutes just so the people on my flight can make it. Lol....
The flight to Albany went smooth. It was super cold on the plane. I asked the flight attendant for a blanket.
My arrival to Albany was a mission! I went to baggage claim and collected my bags. I found the school’s transportation here to pick me up right outside the doors. The drive to Hartwick College was beautiful. Everything was green. The hills, the grass, the weed...everything. It kind of reminded me of Canada. (Lol Canada boy *inside joke*) I arrived to school’s gym where I had to check in and walk around these tables to gather my room key, ID, and few knick knacks.
I met this sweet 17 year old boy who was going to help me carry everything to my dorm room. He eventually didn’t need to help me because one of the staff said she’ll drive my belongings down to the dorm room. Yay! These people are so nice!
Overall, I had a great experience my first day. The people here seems pretty clique-y. I think maybe after the first couple days of being here, they’ll want to get to know me. Besides, I am one of the only Asian here...lol..
The food here is just ok. I can’t be picky with the food I’m eating...though I wished it was caviar and lobster. Lol
It’s hard to make friends. I have always been the type to be the quiet one and just do my own thing. If someone wants to talk to me, I’d be more than happy to talk to them. I’ve struggled with this since I was in junior year high school so I’m used to being by myself.
