Decapolice Theme Song Trailer - Analysis Update (Nov 2025)
I was taking a look at the theme song trailer after a long time, and I realized some new things.
I found the theme song trailer to be important & warrant many analyses, because:
The lyrics writer is Akihiro Hino (mr CEO himself).
The lyrics (sung in Japanese) is obviously synced with the trailer video.
I've heard that Megaton Musashi's theme song ended up carrying some real spoilers for the story (though you would need to play the game 1st to understand the spoilers).
Analysis under the cut:
1st, I'd like to show some instances where the JP written lyrics are in sync with the lyrics' meanings:
Left image: "Tears" is written in green-highlight, & has the water-ripple effect.
Right image: "Love" is written in green-highlight, & is shown when the mother is on-screen.
Left image: "Crumbling" is shown behind Carl, & is then crumbled/destroyed.
Right image: "Falling" is shown in green-highlight, & is then toppled sideways.
Now that we're sure the lyrics & video on-screen matches the song's meaning, we can be sure that the video creator does put emphasize on little details.
Which comes to the new realization that I have, which is: the highlighted written lyrics on screen, specifically the COLOR of the highlight.
Take a look at some examples of how text-color are used accordingly in the trailer:
Left: Misae's introduction. Text color is shown in her theme color, light pink.
Right: Harvard's introduction. Text color is shown in his theme color, red.
Now, all the song lyrics on-screen (written in JP) have the text color white, & the text highlight color neon-green (or just green).
Decapolice has a theme color of neon-blue, as shown below is the loading icon for the game:
Yet, in the theme song trailer it uses more neon-green, than neon-blue, as you can see side-by-side here:
Right: "Paradigm" is written in green-highlight, & is shown when Harvard is on-screen.
Maybe going from neon-blue to neon-green is intentional, maybe it's not... but take a look at these images:
Left: There are 2 highlighted JP texts of slightly different colors -> Above is "Uncertainty" shown in a more blue-highlight, & bottom is "Stress" shown in a more green-highlight.
Right: "Ariadne" is shown in even-greener-highlight.
In the image above of the girl with yellow-striped hair (which I'll call Venus from here on), is the only instance in the trailer where the lyrics is written in black. This is presumably to match the song lyrics of "draped in black" playing as she is shown.
In addition Venus is written in Japanese as "Shukujo" (noble lady -> a lady of noble heritage/descent. So she's from a rich family like Carl).
And lastly, in the image above... "Creation" is written in green-highlight, while "Destruction" is written in yellow-highlight.
What I'm trying to say is this: if the destruction is symbolized with yellow (AKA Venus's theme color), and creation is symbolized with green (AKA Carl's theme color) then...
Okay stop here. I myself 100% am sure that Venus has something to do with the destruction of something, but Carl the creation?? Either it means he's playing a bigger role than just being the MC's partner, his family (Oxford) playing a big role in the plot (rich families dispute? Venus vs Oxford?), or it's just the game's theme color...neon-blue-green (neon-blue in-game & neon-green in trailer = me confused...).
Or maybe it's actually neon-blue all along, and they made a mistake in the theme song trailer and accidentally changed it to neon-green??
Or Harvard's theme color is actually all red, blue, and green, and black too??
Or neon-green is actually Harvard's mother's theme color?? 😂
Or my eyes and color-knowledge are playing tricks on me, and the neon-green I think I'm seeing in the theme song trailer, is actually known to the rest of the world as neon-blue??
Or maybe the neon-green highlight doesn't mean anything after all, despite the yellow highlight definitely meaning something... 🤔
By the way, both Harvard and Carl's pendant are blue/green. Harvard's pendant is blue, while Carl's pendant is green. The pendants' color seem similar to the highlight and/or game's theme color...
(Also, I have always really liked Decapolice's theme song's title: City of Love).
What do you guys think? 🤔 @decapolicemoment @awesomeart-83
the monkey paw curled up into a fist and beat me up. we DID get footage, sure, and the delay was super obvious, but damn only 20 secs?? and like half of it is js shots of the city??? not to mention the art style change AGAIN??? AND IT LOOKS WORSE??
like the 2023->late 2023->2024 changes weren’t bad other than them sucking harvard’s melanin dry. hell i liked the last one but DAMN IT WHYD THEY MAKE HIM LOOK SO DAMN AI??? (we know why)
(comparison) they fucked his eyes up so bad oh my god bro
the weird thing is that like…aside from carl everyone else’s models look decent?
i can’t get a good close up of zhang but like…
they aren’t bad? ig?
anyways not much to analyze, carl looks like he gets kidnapped/attacked by the clown in decasim
there’s a digital dragon for…idk rich ppl shit ig
basically confirmation that broadstone’s a surveillance state (apparently ryūjin is a dragon diety in japanese mythology?? smt to think about)
carl does photography on cases
and that’s honestly everything that’s important
my ONLY cope and possible reason as to why harvard looks so lobotomized in that shot is that it’s carl’s imagination.
like man idk maybe he’s having a “hmm…what would harvard think” and he’s imagining sparkly eyed harvard giving him advice. his eyes aint even the right color in that bro they’re supposed to be two diff shades of blue going inwards not up and down hino please don’t tell me u forgot how he looks. nuke the game if u have to and js give us the anime cause at least he looks like he’s real AND not so light in the anime. he looks like he can’t fucking emote anymore bc of plastic surgery and inbreeding bro WHY?? chatgpt can you generate me a positive ending to this post since u made half of the game im talking about?
