Social Impact Expo
Do you want to make a difference in your job or internship? If so, this fair is full of mission-driven organizations that are looking for people just like you. The internships/jobs offered at this fair span a large range of fields, from education to government. There are 37 organizations attending this fair, but here is a sneak peek into a few from the different fields represented:
Nonprofit / Government 1. Fenway Health – Fenway Health aims to enhance the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community through access to high quality health care, education, research, and advocacy. As of 2016, they see and treat over 150,000 patients, have an operating budget of over $90 million, and have over 450 people on staff.
Education / Teaching 2. Tenacity – Tenacity provides after-school, in-school, and summer programs for the youth of Boston. They have athletic, literacy, tutoring, and mentoring programs to help build student motivation and achievement. They provide additional support around times of transition – when students move from middle school to high school or from high school to college, to ensure that students stay on track.
Education Technology / Media 3. Curriculum Associates – Curriculum Associates works to deliver on the promise of equitable learning for all students in every classroom. They provide teachers with the programs and tools they need to keep students motivated, and to help them succeed. Their solutions include data-driven classrooms, differentiating instruction in reading and mathematics, and a blended mathematics curriculum.
Consulting / Policy Research 4. RAND Corporation – RAND’s mission is to improve policy and decision making through research and analysis. They research a multitude of different issues, including but not limited to energy, education, health care, justice, the environment, international affairs, and national security. RAND prides themselves on objectivity and quality – they operate independent of commercial and political pressures.
The Social Impact Expo is on Thursday, April 4th from 3-5pm at the Gutman Conference Center. It is open to all Harvard University students! Don’t forget to bring your Harvard ID and an updated copy of your resume. Become an agent for change! See you there!
