The way people talk about Langdon on here is actually so weird to me.
like you don’t have to like him. you don’t have to excuse anything he’s done. but acting like any character who gets shipped with him "deserves better" is?? gross. it turns into this thing where he’s not even treated like a character anymore, just something to reject or punish.
and it’s ironic because that’s literally the kind of mindset the show critiques. reducing someone down to their worst traits, deciding they’re beyond understanding, acting like they don’t deserve connection or care. the show goes out of its way to show how messy and complicated people are, and then the fandom flattens him into one note.
you can dislike a character without acting like they’re unworthy of being written about, explored, or even loved in fiction. that’s the whole point of engaging with complex characters
idk it just feels less like media criticism and more like moral policing at this point.
