Hard times ahead for Trevor Noah

Here is the thing. I love shows like The Daily Show. Watching the news report on current events while throwing in some jokes to make it more bearable is a genius idea. I enjoyed the show hosted by Jon Stewart and I really like Trevor Noah. But I see a very difficult time ahead for Trevor. Jon Stewart had diversity during his tenure, he talked about many different topics. Don’t get me wrong, Trevor reports on different topics as well, but I am afraid that every show in the coming 4 years will, in a way, be about nothing else but Donald Trump. Last night I binge watched all episodes from the last 3 months. Of course it was the presidential election, so I really couldn’t expect anything else. Thankfully The Daily Show schedules little fluff pieces for the beginning of each episode. Still, since Donald Trump is such an unexpected president elect, all eyes will be on him, waiting for the next scandal, for his wall, for the next BANG. And this will be all Trevor will be talking about in the next years. At least I suspect so.

There is one good thing that came from the presidential election. I find myself determined to do better during the election campaign here in Germany in 2017. I will consider every party, I will research and then I will make my decision. I will talk about it with friends and with my family. France is up next for elections and I am a bit afraid of the road the world seems to take. Everything seems to steer towards ‘more racist’, ‘more anti’, ‘more fear’, ‘more hate’. Maybe it is a bit amplified due to the American elections, I don’t know.

Any way, I hope some of you were as inspired by the American election as I was. Please educate yourselves, research the options given to you by your government and don’t just stay at home. Especially don’t just stay at home during election, not voting, but, as soon as the votes are counted, flood the streets to protest. Try to change the outcome while you can actively affect it, not when the biggest step is already taken.
