Haslemere - a changing town
This is how Haslemere has changed and how it has affected the people and shops:
Tesco opened so small local food shops went bankrupt because everyone went to the supermarkets to buy food. They went to the supermarkets because it was easy to buy everything in one place and there was more choice.
More and more people are moving to Haslemere because they want to get away from big cities but still need access for their jobs (commuters), This has meant more houses being built.
A big change for Haslemere was the building of the Hindhead tunnel. It has meant less traffic coming though the town.
the museum was built so more tourists came and the hotel was built opposite so the tourists had a place to stay
