so here is general recap of everything that happened:
tim's human, abducted by evil alien scientists, they got scared of him shitless and threw him out on a breathable planet, batfam are a bunch of aliens stuck on this planet too, doing repairs for their ship. shenanigans happen, they take tim with them.
and i honestly haven't thought through how exactly tim and kon are going to meet, but i need tim to trip over himself watching this fae-like creature and fucking face-plant into the floor.
because that ethereal bitch is standing there looking like an elf from tolkien, with those cute pointed ears, perfect face and bluest, biggest, deepest eyes tim has ever seen.
he fell so hard figuratively and literally it's embarrassing.
there is blood running from his nose and his head is swimming and there is ringing in his ears but-
that pretty thing is coming his way with worrying chirping and tim might just pass out.
_
also related to nosebleed thought, but i imagine tim somehow found himself standing in a place where a big fight happened and go "what is all this blue liquid everywhere?"
and then realizing that
"right, humans have red blood, cool, not everyone has red blood. this is blood. i'm gonna puke"
there are no superheroes, no supervillains, but a lot of sci-fi.
think cosmic opera, but humans are space orcs. or space australians, whatever you prefer.
i haven't thought this through, but tim is human, is probably abducted from earth, and others are aliens.
you know how coffee is poisonous to most species?
some idiot tries to kill tim to make the crew suffer, because humans are so little, they look sick, they have nothing that helps them survive but hoard instinct, surly it's an easy target.
and for a second everybody believes that too.
tim coughs, crunches his face.
there are tears in his eyes.
then-
"what the fuck?" more coughing "i hate coffee, fuck. it's so strong, eww, and cold, jesus!"
everyone is shocked, while tim wants to puke.
for those of you who didn't know, tim canonically hates coffe, his caffeine addiction is completely fanon. energy drinks, on the other hand...
(disclaimer this turned out really fucking long i'm sorry)
so we all know how easy it is to ruin your sleep schedule when you're a teen, right? you're wired by nature to go to sleep late and wake up even later. it's normal, but also, if you're not careful, it can be damaging very easily.
for fun purposes tim is fourteen and suffering that exact problem.
his parents don't give a single flying fuck about where he is and how he is (yay child neglect), so nothing stopped him from playing minecraft 'til 5 am on a school day, especially when all his friend group did exactly the same.
it's a habit, a bad one.
and now he's abducted by aliens.
he just wanted to sit on his porch in the middle of the night with a soda and a three hour youtube video about why people ate all the mummies, and now he's trying not to go insane in a cell of an alien research ship. life is full of unexpected twists, isn't it.
for the lack of anything to do, he mostly slept between eating and strange tests. these aliens are either really stupid, if they think he has the same level of intelligence as a cow, or they simply don't care. neither of those options sounded comforting.
so now he's plenty rested, and while his sleep schedule turned from nothing to everything, it's still, probably, better.
there was a study done, i think, where a human was put in a closed room with an artificial day & night cycle that was shorter than ours, and they lived just fine in it for a few month.
so timmy's gonna be okay no matter how short or long the cycle on this new planet they dumped him on is.
and when you don't have screens, and the only lighting at night is a campfire, and you had a very active day, you're out like a light as soon as your head hits a horizontal surface.
so now timmy has a good and healthy sleep cycle.
until batfamily (who are alins btw) pick him up and show him all the computers, all the screens and everything else that works at night, because spaceships are cool like that.
and tim very easily fell back into his old bad habit.
and they all start noticing.
his fur (hair) is looking dull and unhealthy, his visible and usually white scleras look pink and there are very worrying purple coloring under his eyes.
he's acting clumsy, moving slower and eating less.
he must be very ill!
and if someone on earth ever asked tim about it, he would've said something like "don't worry, i'm fine, stayed late for a couple of nights, you know how it is" with a smile.
but...
these aliens seem like they care. like it's not politeness, but genuine concern. something his parents never showed and probably never had for him.
and he can't find it in himself to twist the truth. it's already hard with a language barrier, and even harder when they're earnest in their worry.
he explains when confronted, as good as he can with gestures and limited words they translated to galaxy speak already, that it's a normal human body reaction to not getting enough sleep.
everyone thinks that he's terribly ill if he can't sleep, and start to silently panic.
tim sheepishly explains that humans tend to do that at their own will, if there's something interesting enough to do instead.
batfam is stunned.
bruce tries to understand how they limit themselves, dick is horrified at their way of living.
tim says that there is no limit.
bruce doesn't believe at first, and thinks that he misunderstood what tim tries to tell them.
he's very distraught when he learns he understood right. dick is speechless at human's bullshit. jason doesn't quite know if he should adore or team up with bruce on the matter.
tim has curfew now.
_
"and still, what is the real limit to not sleeping?" asks dick many months later.
"well... human will either pass out from exhaustion on the spot, or die," answers tim with a shrug.
"die..?" asks dick, mildly uneasy.
"the record until death happens is eleven days. ah... 15 sleep cycles on this ship. my personal record is three- about four and a half sleep cycles here"
dick doesn't have eyelids and can't articulate with his eyes his bewilderment, but the way his body went stiff and his long thin limbs twitched did the job well.
"that's... wow. how did you figure out that death comes after fifteen sleep cycles?"
"honestly? i don't know. probably hitler's experiments"
"and hitler is?"
"oh, that's a big topic. that guy started second world war and committed a genocide," if dick could pale, he would, "for all awful things he did, his scientists made a lot of progress in learning the way human body works"
"that- that's-"
"yeah?"
"...you had a world war. two of them"
"yeah?"
"like, every part of your planet was... in the state of war. twice," dick stared at the distance, twitching even more.
"yeah? you don't have them here?"
"timmy..."
"yes?"
"no, of course we don't have world wars!" his limbs shook with violent convulsions, "tim, what the fuck? and genocide? tim? what is wrong with your species?!"
dick sounded scandalized, his body language confirming his words.
tim laughed.
"we wonder that ourselves, believe it or not"
_
then one day they should all learn that tim views himself as a potential monster because of their reactions to his stories. cue angst.
yk i thought that if there is some space federation or smth they probably wanna be diplomatic and really modern and everything, maybe even having a slogan about learning is light or something.
so education isn't a choice, it's a requirement. because if folk can't have education, it's easy to make them believe anything, and while it's a good strategy for a singular country, it's probably bad for the whole galaxy. because there is a lot of land, a lot of danger, a lot of unknown, and to be safe from each other and unknown folk needs to be smart.
so, when there is an individual of particular age that doesn't have standard education when they should, others are required to ither forcibly if necessary send them to school or teach them themselves in cooperation with said school.
and it's better to be sent to school, because it's free from influence that might be bad for the individual, but bruce and his dream team explained that tim is an only specimen of his kind, that his kind isn't in space yet, and it would be bad for his mental health, and did you know that humans pack bond with other species really easily, and he bonded with them, pretty please don't make them send him away, tim will be sad.
so they got the permission and now comes the part that i started this explaining for.
i really like the idea of tim learning with guidance of bruce, dick and jason, or maybe alone but then coming to them with questions or new discoveries like toddlers do when they learn something new.
college wants me dead☠️ we're studying by new program as first lab rats and boy oh boy does it hurt.
(humans are space orcs but batfam)
anyhow i think tim should fall in love with tea. like, there are no energy drinks on this alien planet and drinking plain water all the time is just depressive.
idk how he's alive after trying out so many alien fruits, leaves, grass and plants, but if he's alive he deserves to have good herbal tea.
a lot of shit gave him stomach aches, but he figured it out and now enjoys his alien lipton.
maybe he gives some of it to batfam to show them that he's not hostile + actually very friendly + sapient.
maybe they're disgusted by the sweetness of it bc humans like really sugary things and timmy has a sweet tooth, so at first they think "damn he's hostile it's poison" but tim figures it out and makes them tea without sugar.
i'm honestly so unwell the only thing keeping me from breaking is herbal tea. tim you should suffer with me.
the fight between minecraft and college project has been resolved. guess which won. i will regret it but i will regreit later so fuck it we ball.
also cultivating some thoughts about my haso!batfam
currently thinking that tim should be bored (there is no computer in the woods. and no computer in the fields) so he starts to build little silly things from surrounding flora. if there are branches available he'll make a little doll house, idk, or a micro pen for pets (cool rocks which he decorated with natural dye and flowers/leaves), or anything, really.
maybe there is clay near the river (ignore that this is an absolutely different planet. there is water, there are rivers and there is an equivalent of clay or straight up it), he collects it and makes some figurines and pots. for the sake of the plot and my mental health there are mountains nearby and they are inhabited by little creatures that emit really hot fire when spooked, so after trial and error tim figured that it's nearly impossible to fire clay pots in normal fire, so he caught some of them and made them be his furnace.
ignore that it's kinda animal abuse. they're okay, just scared for a few hours. tim let them go after they did what he wanted. besides, he's just doing everything to survive here, so you can't blame him.
i think that some trees should have fruits that when dried can function as little pots, but the problem is - they are little and fragile, so he goes through a lot of them in a... week? or the equivalent of that on this planet.
so clay pots it is.
there is also a lot of natural dye in flower petals from the fields, so he's having all kinds of fun with it. he never was an art guy, but for the lack of enrichment and a lot of free time he changed his stance. he's still not an artist, but coloring rocks is nice.
fuck i got so much away from the initial topic. sorry not sorry.
i think batfam inevitably finds either his art or his structures/toys, so now they know that there is somebody sapient with them on this planet! tim probably doesn't know that they know, but it doesn't matter, because mutual stalking is fun.
humans are space orcs, batfamily. there is more i have a tag.
chronic pains are Not Fun. so i was thinking i should give some to tim.
ahh a little summary of the plot that exists already:
tim is abducted from earth by illegal alien scientists. scientists fucked up, got scared of tim, and left him on a breathable but not inhabited by any sentient species planet. he survives in the wild for a while, before connecting with some aliens (batfam) who are doing repairs for their ship and are currently stuck on land.
so.
i think tim wouldn't have any reason to do sports while on earth. he's not a vigilante, he's just a computer nerd who sits like a shrimp 24/7.
maybe he was doing skateboarding, but, i think, without superheroes and any goal in life, he would eventually fall into a depressive episode, and, after that, skateboarding is just... left forgotten. i think his life passion is being a hero, and in a world like ours, where he lives in my au, it's not easy to follow through with. it would maybe be logical to give him a full on depression for years, but this shit is purely self-indulgent, so i'm not gonna. he's strong, he can beat depression, i believe in him. whatever.
so. he's not a sports guy. and sits on the computer a lot (just like me😔) so i'm giving him trouble with posture. not enough to torture him, but enough to have a spinal misalignment.
it's not very noticeable in everyday life, but when he has to walk and be on foot every day for a few weeks to survive... his hip is hating him with passion. he can't sleep on his right side, because his hip can and will scream on him, if he does.
he desperately wishes he did physical therapy more and didn't abandon it.
sometimes it hurts enough to cry.
don't worry though, you won't have to survive on your own once i figure out how to introduce you to these aliens...
i got thinking about dick in my people are space orcs au.
and yeah, i could just make him an avian and be done with it, but it's too easy.
you know these flying dinosaurs?
(pics are from google sorry for blur.)
they look so fucked up. a mix of a bat, bird and unholy embryo that got born premature.
i think dick could look something like that?
but dinosaurs 90% sure had feathers (or, well, predecessors of feathers) so i'm adding a blue parrot to the mix.
very dick coded. in right light this abomination is graceful, mind blowingly beautiful and everything, but in everyday situations this is a disaster.
still contemplating if i should add him a humanish head/face or go right into the monster alley... i think he should be fucked up. i think he should have a beak. tim sees this shit and goes "is this a fucked up alien parrot?" and then "nvm dinosaurs came from space apparently, i can't stand this unholy screeching"
maybe i will make dick able to spit with acid or something. as a treat.
