AN ORIGINAL 193040s SCHIAPARELLI STYLE CROWN HAT BLOCK, PROFESSIONAL MILLINERY ebay roizston
Philip Treacy hat block
Hat block carving. I’d prefer wood but time crunch
A new hat block I ordered has just arrived! It’s such a beauty, so of course I had to try it out immediately. Probably should’ve used a capeline instead of a hood, but all I had was this hood and apart from almost being a little short on felt on one side, I think it’ll be just fine.
Milliner's fantasy
A CNC milled hat block awaiting felt to be pulled over it. An old technique for shaping hats, wooden hat blocks are hard to find in usable shape. Phrenology hats are being made on all new blocks specifically designed for the line by Matthew Borgatti. Using digital fabrication techniques (CAD modelling and CNC Milling), we're able to keep this tradition alive.
