so i was reading this post about the flag transfer plan with hatano and ssr-kun. i thought it was pretty interesting and mostly agree with their points! so when i saw ch. 92, my mind went 👀 because guess who has a job 👀👀 is dressed neatly (with glasses!) at work 👀👀👀 and seems to have good customer service manners 👀👀👀👀 indicating a possible hidden mature, responsible, and considerate personality 👀👀👀👀👀

at any rate: i think ssr-kun does make a good rival for mob and would be the perfect person to pass the flag to. i don't think the universe would somehow align to grant mob's wish 😂 but if it did, ssr-kun seems perfect (for now, at least) (if he's genuinely a dick, it would immensely please me if he'd stay 10 feet away from my son at all times 😤)! hope we get a name soon ^^

I've got a small update on Sekoguchi Ryo's part in Zettai BL 3. He posted this photo on IG with a caption confirming that he's playing the role that manga readers all figured he'd be playing, based on how he looks in the promo material.

I'm going to mention some spoilers below. The next paragraph has spoilers about the premise of his character/story and the one after that has spoilers about one aspect of the manga ending.

Character name, premise, etc. spoilers: Sekoguchi confirms in his IG caption that he'll be playing Hatano.* Hatano goes to high school with Ayato, Mob's brother. Apparently Hatano confesses to Mob (I'm not sure if he falls for him during his storyline or shows up already having feelings for him). And he seems to be a pretty significant character, so it's not like he just confesses and peaces out or something.

Manga ending/likely season ending spoilers: This is hardly super surprising given their age gap** and Hatano's being a minor, but in the manga nothing comes of Hatano's feelings for Mob. Sekoguchi's IG caption includes the phrase "途な恋心" (romanized as "tona koigokoro" per google) which IG translates as "pure love" but google translates as "hopeless love." This seems to confirm that series Hatano is going to end up disappointed, like manga Hatano.

Speaking of manga Hatano, here he is.

So, what does all this mean for us Sekoguchi appreciators? There's good news and bad news. The good news is that this sounds like a juicy part that Sekoguchi would be wonderful in. The bad news is that it's not looking likely that we'll get to see Sekoguchi kiss a boy in this role, or anyone else for that matter. But, you know, hope springs eternal, so maybe some other time.

* Sekoguchi writes the name in kanji as 旗野. IG translates this as Asano, but google translate says Hatano. As y'all probably know, the same combination of kanji can often stand for multiple names with disparate pronunciations, just as the same name can often be spelled using more than one combination of kanji. I'm going with Hatano here, though, since Hatano is a manga character who resembles Sekoguchi in the promo photos.

** I find it so funny that Sekoguchi Ryo and Inukai Atsuhiro are going to be playing these roles with this problematic age gap involving a college student and a high school kid but in reality Sekoguchi is 27 and Inukai is 29.
