Dude, the crazy thing is that we’re in an environment where simply asking people to criticize someone reasonably is seen as courageous. I’m not even really taking a side in that post and it’s still a “risky” thing to bring up.
The vitriolic extremism that’s commonplace on Tumblr exhausts me. Even when I agree with the message behind the outrage, I very much reject the method. Compassion, firmness and truth are the keys to navigating disagreements, not flailing about with insults and rage.
*sigh* In any case, I’m too old and soft-spoken for this whole mess. I had always planned to taper off my activity here post-SoaD, but crap like this is certainly speeding up the process. :S
