something about rabbits representing jackie and one of our first introductions to shauna being the way she kills a rabbit in her garden. and deer representing lottie and nat going into the woods every day to try and hunt one, only to bring back one that was already decaying then never find another again. lottie’s faith being what fueled them to survive while it ate away at her - destroying her psyche and her mind before it dragged them all down with her. the same way a maggot infested deer would infect your body too

just found a condolences card a distant cousin wrote to my family when my grandma passed away - he said she encouraged him to be a better catholic and she made warm and persuasive arguments for it. my grandma did missionary work in zambia (she even had a close friendship w a princess in zambia!) and pulled the faith of all my family together... she must have prayed for me too🥲. she was a primary school teacher and i cant imagine how many seeds and lives she impacted doing that..especially as she helped children prepare for nativity/first holy communion and confirmation. i was only about 11 when she passed away so i have memories of her going through questions about God with me and being in mass with her.. she said that mass was food for the soul. thank you God for this love 🤍🌹

i wish she was here but i know she is in paradise w our Lord now. 🪽🕯🩵

isn’t just bodies tangled in sheets,

it’s the unlocked door of your mind,

the secret thoughts you never meant to say aloud,

laid bare in the dim glow of trust.

they don’t tell you that some days,

love is muscle memory,

a thing you do because you promised to,

because even in the dark,

you reach for them,

and they reach back.

and in that reaching,

you remember,

Gentle conversation slurring into quiet laughter, filtering through moonlit nights like water through fingertips. Tentative hands brushing in the darkness, twisting slowly into lips slipping across soft skin. Words and minds and finally bodies laying bare in the night as the last restraints are softly unshackled.

A blurring flood of memories like watercolour; all the edges softened and the colours darkened.

To take that face and inject it into blood, to burn every word and breath and touch into skin even if everyone could see it. To take shame and turn it into something transcendant.

Just a day, just an hour, just a heartbeat longer.

Excuses for moments like these. Forbidden ones filled with heavy misting breaths and tangled skin.

Guilt that cuts deep and pulls like waves on consciences, never quite drawing back into the sea. Minds drifting helplessly away into that hidden span of time. Kept buried deep and dark, making sure it doesn't stay too long.
