#Repost @lsarsour with @get_repost ・・・ I see a sentiment being shared in different ways and using different words but essentially it’s “don’t mourn, organize.” I understand the intention but I ask you to join me in a reflection. Mourning is core and central to healing. Mourning sustains and maintains our humanity. When we see loss of life, that grief and sadness reminds us that we are still human, that we love, that we have compassion for others. So I am mourning. Afraid. Heartbroken. Full of tears that flow on their own. I am devastated. I am shattered. And it’s all okay. Cry. Sit alone. Breathe. I also am committed to organizing. I am committed to the hard work of building a society that allows each and everyone of us, even those I disagree with to live in safety. I am committed to being a disrupter of hate. I am committed to a world where none of us have to explain to children why people who look or pray like them are murdered in broad daylight in “God’s House.” I am in mourning and my heart is broken but my spirit is still in tact. They can’t take everything from us. We can’t let those who don’t want us to exist win. Hate.

What is this hate that is building inside of me,

It burns deeply, 

I can no longer see your face,

I am tired of hearing the footsteps in my house,

a place that was once mine 

a sanctuary,

I am mad at you for saying yes,

I am mad at you for finding a way in,

there is no one I can blame but myself,

so now this hate runs so deep

it is literally killing me

every morning like a thick paste I feel stuck inside of it

I try to break my arms free but like elastic it pulls me back

deeper and deeper I sink

into this person I never wanted to be.
