French here o/ French people are usually pretty fired up and vocal about their emotions. Most girls are like Emma~ I think most people who are not french and keep comparing og skam characters to skamfr characters are forgetting this cultural aspect. The fight scene in the cafeteria for example is the kind that happens all the time, it’s break off and if both parties agree to chill it doesn’t have to be that big of a deal.

Hi, thank you for offering a French perspective! I did think about this when watching the episode, that the remake characters’ personalities are going to change based on the country. I think some of the issue is that Emma is pretty outspoken but they’ve kept some of the Norwegian dialogue the same. So that for example, when Yann says Emma doesn’t have an opinion and doesn’t know who she is, that doesn’t seem like Emma’s real issue? She seems more self-assured and ready to speak up for herself, especially with him. 

But I definitely want to keep in mind the cultural context, I appreciate any context that French fans (or Norwegian, German, Italian fans etc.) can provide! Like the fight did take me by surprise because it would have been a pretty big deal and insta-punishment at my school, so that’s helpful to know.

What I meant with Levi was not able to sacrifice things dear to him was Erwin’s humanity, not his life. If Levi chose Erwin instead of Armin, he was going to turn him into a scapegoat that Flock and so many people tried to do. Erwin has always felt guilty about his father’s death, after his death Erwin dedicate himself to prove both of their theories that is why he joined Survey Corps in the first place. But over years and years as a soldier, then heichou and finally Danchou of Survey Corps, his guilt never ended and also grew strong and strong. We can observe this growing even stronger especially at last arc, when Erwin is at his mind palace.

That’s how I fooled my comrades, fooled my friends and built the mountain of corpses which I now stand, Chapter 76.

Levi didn’t want Erwin to keep living like this, Levi didn’t want Erwin to keep living with all these guilt, all these responsibilities and all these decisions. Levi knew if he brought Erwin back, he will never find peace and keep sacrificing his humanity and to Levi, Erwin was dear in so many ways, he didn’t want Erwin to keep suffering in this hell and he chose Armin so that Erwin may finally find some peace. He understood that Erwin has became a slave of his guilt and he wanted to free him from all of these.

That was what I meant with Levi couldn’t sacrifice something dear to him, Erwin’s humanity was more important to Levi than whole humanity.

I saw your tag about the Sana/Even/Balloon squad plot-line being racist and it’s so true? But the worst imo was how the show allowed it to escalate by having the ballon squad fight with the boy squad and then nothing except for Sana’s texts further eluding the fact that the fight was because the balloon squad were being homophobic?? It was damaging especially with a fandom so quick to jump to conclusions... And I’m afraid the same thing happens if they keep that storyline. They can keep it tbh??

Yeah like if they develop it into something consistent it might be nice because at least it would be a development for Eliott but like it still feels weird that just for any reason at all Lucas would fight someone out of the blue specially cause in his season Lucas didn't ask about his past partners so it would still be just fucking dumb and racist anyway, like yeah Julie was "oh no they're not homophobic" but also "I let you think that to don't even resolve properly the fact that Isak is jealous enough to attack a brown boy out of the fucking blue", what the fuck Julie Andem.

well some religious people doesn’t care if their significant other is faithless. Also Sana does hang out with mostly faithless people so he may have thought it wouldn’t be a big deal :/

i get what u mean but clearly here, in this context, it is very important to sana that her significant other is muslim..so we shall see what she does/ what happens
