“silly rabbit trying to stand as a hare”

I went back and forth about posting this ultimately decided I should.

So, rabbits and hares have different legs and joints. Hind legs specifically. Which means they stand differently. Here I depicted a domestic rabbit with legs stretched out and walking in the same form a hare probably would.

This is because the classic digitigrade legs we see [like these] are actually constantly standing on their toes, with the "heel" or "ankles" actually being that long "l" shape on the lower leg. For rabbits especially, this is true. [So ya your cat has really big feet but just always walks on it's toes bc that's how it's body works, for a comparison]

I'm mentioning all of this bc, I walk on my toes basically constantly, and my body really isn't designed to do that. Which causes near constant pain and difficulties with walking since sometimes my ankle will just, not hold my weight. At all. And I've been doing it since I was extremely young, most likely as a symptom of autism [however there are other possibilities of why someone would do that that should be looked into]

TLDR: Do not walk on your tiptoes it's really really bad for your legs and the only way to help with it is via really expensive surgery, and don't let your kids do it either. And yes ballet is bad for your joints for that reason which is why "diy Ballerinas" is an extreme hazard to people's health [not in ballet I'm just aware of the risks]
