🃏 My conclusion of heartless
the characterization was very nicely done! no one came off as one-dimensional or hollow. traits, be it cowardice or bravery, were all handled well.
I LOVED the dialogue. it was raw, it was dreamy, it was whimsical.
catherine's arc was absolute! i like how her descend into madness wasn't like a switch, but rather like smoke slowly filling up a room.
JEST MY SWEET. he stole my heart, ever since his very first performance. Marisa meyer is vile for making him such a darling then setting fire to it all. It's worse when you realize Jest lived his entire life in a never-ending war.
THE KING! that wretched vermin drove me mad. he was so foolish, goofy and just pathetic. he pisses me off!!!!! the kingdom may be on the verge of falling, and he'll call for a fucking ball or a feast. I mean, how'd he even come to be KING?! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!
Mary Ann & cath were so sweet. how i miss my daughters.
Every single scene of cath and jest together is ingrained in my mind. The garden where they met, chocolate caramels, the jokes, corset laces, the first kiss, all of it ... AGONY!!!
HATTA STOLE THE SHOW!! (now, i used to have a crush on the Mad Hatter when i was a little girl, so this is no surprise.) I loved his every single scene. he was so entertaining. what a character!
RAVENNN!!! Executioner of the White Queen? say no more. I'M IN!
The Hatters tea party was one of the best parts of the book.
The masquerade ball where Jest comes dressed as a noblemen to dance with cath? I was kicking my feet. "The Fool had come" THAT IS MY NICHE!!!
Hatta and Cath's relationship was so interesting and engaging. They loathed each other, but also respected each other. they were tied together by the same grief, by the same madness. And, I found it hilarious how bipolar hatta was with her. 10/10
Jest ended every "booktok" boy i know.
The end of jest, raven, hatta & cath's story haunts me. IT HURTS
I loathe that pumpkin patch and would like an apology from miss marissa meyer herself (And a Jest pov)
