Shinsou Hitoshi was a jerk, yes, ( he'd happily acknowledge such a fact any day of the week ) and he admittedly took quite a bit of pleasure in the gentle, harmless tormenting of other people, but he really hadn't been kidding when he'd said he'd heard a scream sounding from somewhere within the confines of this household. It had been a sharp noise-so sudden in the crisp fall air that it had cut through the music playing in his earphones- that he wasn't sure how the other hadn't heard it. Perhaps she'd been just out of range; he'd been lingering outside the house in indecision for about a minute before she'd rounded the corner, after all.
The house was silent now, though. Silent enough for him to think that maybe he'd been hearing things; that this place really was as abandoned as it looked, and that he had grabbed a random heroics student off the street ( well, maybe not completely random; he recognised the girl as a friend of Hagakure's ) and dragged her into the most stereotypically haunted looking house he'd ever seen in his life for absolutely no reason.
That was, until something shattered out of view and made him jump, shoulder narrowly avoiding a collision with the girl's head as he jerked back in surprise. All of a sudden, he didn't mind her clinging to him.
"It..." He swallowed, happy to note that his voice was sounding far calmer than he felt. He’d always been pretty levelheaded in tense situations. "...Was probably just the wind knocking something over. You left the door open."
