One need not be a chamber to be haunted.
Emily Dickinson
If the night whispered your name, would you answer?
It spoke to me… On a night so dark that time froze in place. As chills raced down my spine and every hair on my body rose… The night whispered, and in its silence I heard everything. A voice that was not mine, yet knew me better than I knew myself. I decided to answer.
The Haunted Words
John was a curious literature enthusiast. One day, while browsing a forgotten corner of a used bookstore, he stumbled upon an old, dusty book. The book was unmarked, its pages yellowed with age. Intrigued, he opened it and found an untitled poem. The words seemed to draw him in, compelling him to read further. The PoemThe poem was simple, yet its verses carried an eerie feeling. As John read the…

the world ends not with a silent day where the air feels off and the birds stop chirping, but in a bright fiery blaze of an astroid penetrating the Earth's atmosphere. we see two suns, and everyone is abuzz with confusion and fear, but mostly fear, and the birds chirp as though nothing's wrong. the sun grows closer and larger and the heat amplifies, and suddenly there's impact. everything becomes silent. birds flee trees, and gasps of awe and shock from people on their daily jogs and walking their dogs.
The Old Gods do look after you, you know.
They peer down with their sleepy immortal eyes, down into the mossy puddles beneath their feet that surround their ancient wooded thrones. They watch you closely. They smile. You have ensured they have not been forgotten - not even in the chaotic dissonance of your modern world and modern life. They are grateful. You find time in each passing moment to admire the beauty of that which sprouts from their realm. Finding peace in the cool autumn breeze, seeing an eternity in each droplet of rain that patters against your window. In those moments you think of them. You are reminded they are still with you. They grant you the warm and gentle grace of their gratitude. And because of this soft admiration you hold in your heart, they look after you; and continue to show you those special moments of eternity.
I gave you my all, my everything. I gave you my body, every single part, just to please you. I changed for you, I talked about us and our future, I looked at you with adoring and loving eyes. I drove miles to see you every 2 weeks, I spent money on dates, I paid for myself way too often, I did everything I could. I gave so much that now I’m left with nothing. It was never enough for you. You hurt me in the worst of ways. You lied to me, you killed me, you didn’t love me. You talked to her so easily, you sent those messages so easily… So easily. You complimented her in ways you never did to me. I went unnoticed while being noticed when with you. Is that why I was never presented to these new friends? Because they would also not notice me? Leaving you has opened my eyes to all this pain, to all this wrong you’ve done. So now I sit here, wondering, where do I go now? What will you do now? They say when I guy texts you constantly for days it means they care, they want to be there. Is that just a lie? Or is that actually true? Who knows…
Haunted Words
The words that I will never say,
Are locked away in a vault,
And, without fail, every day,
The voices tell me I'm at fault,
The words that I will never convey,
Are the words burned on my heart,
The ones I keep carefully tucked away,
Will never leave, never depart,
The words that I will never express,
Will haunt me longer than forever,
The urge to say them I will suppress,
To let them all out I will never endeavor,
The words that I will never speak,
Will hold a place in the darkest places,
They will gather dust and become antique,
Become familiar but unrecognizable faces,
The words that I will never utter,
Are hidden beneath every smile,
In the undertone of every word I mutter,
In my footprints, in every mile,
The words that I will never divulge,
Are hidden inside the books I've read,
To release them, that fantasy I cannot indulge,
The words are veiled in every drop of blood I've bled,
Those words that burn my tongue,
The words describe my life, they are my very soul,
The words every day I have flung,
No one shall ever know that I am not, and can never be, whole.
