im attempting to start a cat comic with my friend with our combined art styles, characters, clans, and lore, but i suck ass at drawing action poses. do you have any tips?

You are in luck, :> I actually have a specific site I reference just for this lol.

I use www.warrenphotographic.co.uk for anytime I have a weird pose I need help with! Its also good for inspo, if you dont know what particular pose you want.

sometimes I also combine refs together if i have something really specific in mind.

I mainly use this for cats, but they also have sections for other animals and some landscapes, so many options for you.

I also sometimes use this site, It allows you to rotate animal skulls to get specific angles for heads. Just toggle it to work for cats!

And for action poses in general I try to keep my sketches looser

the more movement the looser the sketch, the more still the characters are the more detailed i keep it! Kinda like a motion blur almost if that makes sense.

Why doesn't Icy let Hickory learn medicine alongside hunting and fighting? Or make him wait to learn it until he's fully trained in survival skills?

Good question, A few reasons!

Mainly is that Icy doesn't think that plants can heal or that medicine is really even something cats can do. She's lived as a loner for her entire life along with her sister (and Stream for a little bit) and hasn't ever interacted with any cats who know how to heal. Her first time hearing of it was from Teasel's story to Hickory, which she took as a fantastical magical story along with the nine lives thing and living in a large cat society.

When Hickory asked her about it she took it as him being childish and wanting to play pretend, she also thought he would maybe grow out of it as he got older.

Though, now that he's still interested in plants a month later she's feeling a little guilty.

Would Hickory ever want siblings?

Honestly probably! If not siblings specifically than at least a cat around his age. There aren't many cats in the desert to talk to and it can feel a bit isolating with just him and Icy.

does hickory know icy is his aunt or does he think she's his mom?

He knows she's his aunt! He doesn't know the exact details of his moms death or anything since he is still a kit, but Icy has told him that his mom passed away and she is taking care of him now. She figures when he's older she'll tell him about her more.

okay this is the first clangen blog i've ever been THIS invested in. do u play wtih any mods/textures/etc?

I play on Lifegen! Its a mod which mainly let's you choose/ customize a main character in your clan, it adds a few other things but that's the main reason I'm playing on it.

Other than that no other Mods or texture packs 👍

Ooooo I went to reread to be ready for the update and was looking to see which of the mystery cats appeared during the Coalclan story and oooooo it's most of them! (Maybe all, but I can't quite tell if the other dark furred bloody cat is the one grooming the kitten or not, the face looks different but they're also pretty similar.)

It's also so cool that time passed between the story of Coalclan and the warning dream! I didn't really catch it before, but the kitten from the first panel is a med cat apprentice (or full med cat maybe) in the dream! Can't wait to find out what horror befell them between those points!!

happy halloween!! are Icy and Hickory celebrating somehow?

Happy late Halloween!!!

Icy has never lived with humans and Hickory hasn't really either so I'd say they unfortunately don't really know about Halloween or human holidays in general. But they are living in an old trailer so its definitely possible for them to have found some old Halloween decor in there!

I'll say once Icy realized he wasn't stuck in the pumpkin, she let him keep it on for the night lol.
