Character Intro: Destiny

Destiny owns the coffee shop the Team #222 spend most of their time in. She’s a former pageant girl and has won many drag pageants. She has at least one crown and displays them in her home, not in the coffee shop.

Destiny used her winnings to set up her coffee shop. It’s her pride and joy. She has spent a lot of money on it and once got into financial difficulties. She got through it by the skin of her teeth and now looks back on it as a valuable learning experience. 

She is the type of person that most of the group go to for advice. She is very good at cheering you up! She has a big heart although it doesn’t immediately jump out at you.

Destiny is very mystical and loves all the fortune telling things. Her favourite is the i ching. She believes in guidance by a higher power, and fate, but she believes we make our own path and our own choices. She thinks some things are just meant to be, or destined to be, no matter what though.  She’s just beginning to believe in angels and has started collecting them. Those, she will display in the coffee shop.

Character Intro: Ember

                      Man! I Feel Like a Woman ¿ Shania Twain

Ember is an ectovirologist. She mainly works in the Ghost Department, but will occasionally crossover into the zombie department if there is a nightwraith breakout. Ember is 29 and has a degree in Ectovirology. She has A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish. 

Ember is half-Spanish, half-Welsh. She has a Spanish grandmother who recently died. This is where Ember gets her middle name from. Since her abuela died, Ember has been super withdrawn and down. She is a little snappy and very defensive. Her way of dealing with the pain is to push everyone away and put up walls. Ember is usually a really social, upbeat person. She loves partying and has loads of confidence. 

Her hobbies and passions are Spanish and Mexican food, collecting Bubblegummi merchandise, reading science journals, reading fiction, animals, dancing, music, partying...

Ember is new to Team #222. She meets Neve first but becomes closest to Anna and then Katie.

Haunted Towers Snippet

It felt like drowning. Oceans of saltwater burying you in the ground. A sandy grave, abandoned even by mermaids. Mermaids. I'd always thought death by drowning would leave me in a sort of Atlantean paradise, pearl pink fins sailing out behind me. But no. What do I get? A pile of sand, tossed around every time there's a mild storm. It's probably been shat out by fish. It smells like it was shat out by fish.  So I drift on the bottom of the sea, wondering how in the world Fantasma or Bwgan are going to find me and move me on. And then it hits me. I'm not exactly the monster spook you get warned about at school. I'm still me. Ella Ward from Newport. 

Two days after I finally twigged that I was still sentient, I dragged a wave around for three hot seconds.

Your OCs Backstory: 3: Friends (with Neve)

Zero draft. Pardon my dust!

Neve cringed. She’d done exactly the same thing on one of her first assignments. 

“Here,” She said, picking up the INSERT GHOST GUN NAME HERE. Neve clicked the loose barrel back into place. “I dropped mine too once.” She whispered, with a smile. 

The new recruit grinned nervously at her. “Th… Thank you…”

“What’s your name?” 

“Ember,”

“Hi Ember, I’m Neve. It’s my first assignment as a TL, so I’m really nervous too. If that helps.”

The woman smiled. “It does, thanks. I’m just, not meant to be on assignment.”

Neve frowned. “But then what’s going on?”

Ember shrugged. “Field experience. I’m an ectovirologist.”

“Ah. You need to be able to head out to nightwraith sites.”

“Yep.”

“Well, rather you than me. We ran into that once and it was not pretty.” Neve handed Ember her GHOST GUN. “Has anyone explained what we’re doing today?” 

Ember shook her head, the blonde ends of her ponytail falling over her shoulder.

“Oh cool! We have the same hair!” Neve said, picking up one of her braids to display.

“Ah, yeah,” Ember dumped her ponytail down her back.

“Right, so, work!” Neve took a deep breath. “Someone phoned in,” Neve made air quotes with her fingers. “And reported ectoplasm and a dozen or so paranormal events. So now we have to determine if we’re likely to need a teammate from another department.” Neve sighed. “Half the time we get there and have to hold up and wait for a Valkyrie or a Reaper anyway. This is fairly useless,” She waved the paper around. “So what do you think?”

Rules: Pick a character from your wip, tell us their role (hero, villain etc.), and give a brief visual description. Then answer the questions below!

I’m going to talk about Katie. She is an alien from Neptune. She’s part of my team of heroes. She is in human form (I haven’t worked the details of the whole alien thing out yet) and is a chubby-faced twenty-year old with short brown hair that she always wears tied back. It’s always barely tied back because it’s almost too short. Her eyes are blue. She’s caucasian. She loves autumn and usually wears autumn colours. She dresses really casually.

Tell us, in one sentence, what your character’s ultimate goal is.

She wants to go home but she wants to stay with her friends at the same time.

What actor could you envision playing your character in a movie? (faceclaim)

Still figuring this out.

What is their theme song?

E.T by Katy Perry (ft. Kanye West)

Which character trope do they fit the best?

Sage as you can see from my lengthy archetypes post! (Love me some archetypes!)

Are they physically fit? What sport would they play?

She’s a little over the “right” weight, but really active and energetic. She loves ice hockey (watching and playing). She likes having a go at roller disco with Anna too.

What is their spirit animal?

A hippo. I know they’re super aggressive (and Katie is really not), but they still look so cute, cuddly and fun-loving. And they adore water and mud.

How about their Hogwarts house?

Hufflepuff.

What is their greatest character flaw? How does it affect their journey?

She isn’t a calm person at all. She takes risks, she’s spontaneous, she hates sitting still and discussing/planning… She could be a liability at work (she’s a ghosthunter/ghoul at a tightly regulated health-and-safety-obsessed company).

What scene with them are you looking forward to writing the most?

Maybe if she was sick/exhausted/upset and she wasn’t her super bouncy self. I think that would be interesting to write, and her friends’ reactions would be interesting too.

Have they undergone any emotional trauma? How does it affect them/their choices?

Well she grew up in a world she didn’t belong to, having to hide her identity. The first time she saw someone’s lost cat poster it terrified her for days. Back home, no one would steal your cat, and there weren’t being-operated vehicles to injure them. She was also really young, and she’s super sensitive. She loves animals and can’t bear anyone hurting them. The fact that people exist that would hurt an animal is beyond her understanding - she can’t even think about it without freaking out. It’s a big deal for her. It doesn’t happen where she was born.
