I spent last week in my home country Germany meeting friends and family and stuffing myself with all the goodies I could find. I did bring a slimmed down version of my feeder cam with me and set it up at my parents’ place again. This time I got a bit more lucky than in December, but the birds were still not as camera friendly as their American cousins. Pictured you see the gorgeous Eurasian Blackbird (a male, I believe), a Great Tit and what I think is a partially leucistic House Sparrow. I had a great time, but I am also happy to be back home. There is nothing better than sleeping in your own bed, and the kitty cat is extremely happy too. The veggie garden looks fantastic since Michigan got lots of rain and warmth, and there are five healthy Bluebird babies and Wren babies in each nestbox. The Wrens look like they are ready to fledge. I hope you all had a great week! Things will go back to normal here now :)

Here are a bunch of young sparrows. Every one of them with their own thoughts, with their own concerns, but all of them absolutely adorable.

1. “As a sparrow I can tell you that you must seize every opportunity, but please, don’t be like the pigeon.” 2. “Why did I get out of that egg?” 3. “Who the fock is that guy?” 4. “Since I’m a sparrow... Can I eat this too?” 5. Front: “We are ready to attack.” 5. Behind: “lol not me” (right) “But I’m a pacifist” (left). 5. Top: “Why do we have to be diurnal? To hell with daylight, I wanna sleep.” 6. “I think I forgot to leave a check for my maid.” 7. “Cute fluffball, am I not?”
