Woke up this morning remembering that Rings of Power had Elrond doing haute ecole moves in battle:

That move is a capriole and I love it here not only because it looks really cool but because it fits so nicely in-universe. These are movements that originally developed from cavalry training moves and are now a stylised highly skilled art form:

But even though these moves probably weren't ever designed to be done like this in battle, if there's ever a cavalry that would absolutely spend decades perfecting beautiful performance art to use in brutal bloodthirsty warfare it is Tolkien elves. Well done Elrond, your foster dads would be þo proud of you.

A capriole! Really liked working on this one; plus I recorded it, so you can (eventually) watch me suffer to make it! (It was hard but it's fine that's just art). Definitely improved on backgrounds though lol

I would love to visit The Tempel Lipizzans in Illinois. There was one Lipizzan troupe I saw years ago in New Jersey where the riding was atrocious, but this company seems like the real deal. No one shoot me for saying this, as I realize it might just be a result of them perhaps having a larger arena, but I actually like this more forward style of classical dressage more than what they do at the Spanish Riding School.

i’ve been taking an animation class this winter and absolutely loving it! here’s the project i just finished with Procreate, using reference videos of the incredible rider Hannah Zeitlhofer from the Spanish Riding School. this movement is called a courbette!
