If there is a thing to be learned about Alana Bloom it is that one is not permitted to speak ill of Abigail Hobbs. This is why she leaves the young survivor in her house for just ten minutes and goes to fetch the missing chocolate chips for the chocolate chip cookies she gets into a straight up parking lot fist fight with some large, ignorant man and his buddy cracking wise about some tabloid article headlined with the endless spiral of irritating torment the country chooses to lay on Abigail Hobbs. Really, you’d figure surviving Hannibal was enough to alter the conversation.
She walks back in her own front door as Abigail lets her in, her five dogs eagerly rushing to greet her. But there’s a thoroughly discolored bruise creeping along her cheekbone, and her knuckles are raw, red and bloodied.
“That is an apt statement. --No, it’s nothing, really. I think maybe I might look a little worse than the other guy, I have to admit.”
