“OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE AARON, WILL ‘YA STOP WITH THE NUZLOCKE VARIANTS ALREADY?”
So, because I love Jak & Daxter as well as Pokémon, I decided to make yet another Nuzlocke variant, this time based on Jak & Daxter, and I’m calling it the Ecolocke. And, no, I will not stop. I will never stop. You cannot stop me.
AND THIS TIME I ACTUALLY HAVE MORE THAT WOULD MAKE IT JAK & DAXTER-THEMED AS OPPOSED TO THE ROBINSONLOCKE WHICH IS LITTLE MORE THAN A MANDATORY NAMING THEME.
First off, there are the standard Nuzlocke rules:
If a Pokémon faints, it is considered dead, and must be either released or be permanently placed in a dedicated PC box.
I am only allowed to catch the first eligible Pokémon in each area/route/etc. If the first encounter is a horde or wild double battle, I am allowed to choose which Pokémon out of the bunch to capture, as long as that Pokémon is eligible, of course.
All Pokémon must be nicknamed. This is to increase the bond with my Pokémon before my heart is broken into a million pieces by their untimely demise.
And here is where it deviates from a “vanilla” Nuzlocke:
Eligibility: I am only allowed to catch Fire-, Water-, Grass-, Electric-, Fairy-, or Poison-type Pokémon. The reason being that Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Dark eco are represented by similar colours to the ones that represent the Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, and Poison types, respectively, and, before the release of Pokémon X/Y, many speculated that the type that would become the Fairy type was going to be called the Light type. If the Fairy type does not exist in the game that I am playing (basically any game pre-X/Y), that type is replaced with Flying, due to the colour that represents the Flying type (a whitish-purple). Note that a Mega Evolution that changes a previously non-eligible Pokémon’s type to something that is eligible does not count. Realistically, this only affects Audino and Altaria.
Dupes Clause: In most instances, I am not allowed to catch a Pokémon from the same evo line as one I’ve already caught. This clause can be triggered a total of 5 times before I must move on to the next area. Each individual horde encounter counts only once towards Dupes Clause, unless it is a mixed horde with both Pokémon being ones I’ve already caught, in which case it will count twice towards Dupes Clause.
Shiny Clause: If I encounter a shiny Pokémon, I am allowed to catch it, regardless of eligibility or whether or not it counts towards Dupes Clause.
Legendary Clause: I am not allowed to capture or use Legendaries, and they do not count as encounters. In the event of a forced Legendary capture, of course I can capture it, but I still cannot use it.
