The Weight of Poverty

Have you ever wondered when your next meal would be?

Most people take out loans for college. Others take out loans for food.

Most people get a job by 18 and are overjoyed that they have a little freedom from their family. Others get a job as a teen and are overwhelmed by the responsibility of making sure that their mother doesn’t go hungry.

Most people look forward to their future. Others live day by day hoping that they can keep their head above the water.

More than 45 million people are living below the poverty line.

Imagine working full time every day when you're barely an adult, to support not only yourself, but your mother and sibling. Paying bills and putting food on the table at 18, because that was the life you were born into.

Imagine your paycheck being diminished to less than $15 dollars the moment you get it, because of the debt of trying to survive.

Do you think you could survive for a month, with less than $15?

What would you do if your only way to work, your car, was gone? The freeway in between you and the money you must earn to be able to pay off the money you owe for the car. A never ending cycle where doors are slammed in your face and you face constant defeat.

Imagine watching your mom come home after a day of work and knowing, as a child, that you shouldn't eat, because, if you do, she won't.
