Havens Task 012: Council Interrogation

"My name is Vanessa Cole. I'm 18 years old." 

Tell us your height, weight, and any other distinguishing features that we may use for easier recognition of your person.

"I'm uh- not exactly sure about my weight, but I'm around five foot two.  Maybe 127 pounds? And um, my hair is darker than Valerias- my sister's. And my face is rounder." 

State for the record the places that you frequent most often.

"My room, the Institute, and the Fainting Goat, I suppose. The library, if you want to count that separate from the school."

Tell us about your upbringing. 

"I lived a good life in Scotland. I was a normal kid until my powers showed up. I played with my sister, I had fun with my family, I wasn't afraid for them to be near me. I was a little girl with a mother and a father and a sister." 

Tell us how you arrived at The Nightingale Haven and for what reason.

"I got here when I was ten. My parents thought it the best to move us out here after my sister and I discovered our abilities."

What is your influence within The Nightingale Institute?

"Nothing, really. I'm a nobody studying creative writing."

In your opinion, who is the cement of The Institute — the one who manages to keep everyone together?  

"I, I don't exactly have an answer for this one. I'm not close enough with anyone here to be able to say."

What is your understanding of The Rebel War meant to destroy mankind?

"The Rebels want Elites to be the superior, and probably the only, race, right?"

Are you aware of any Rebel base camps within The Nightingale Haven?

"No. Is this why you're investigating? Are we in danger?"

Are there any students or groups of students who you could see as a threat to the safety of The Havens?

"No, not off the top of my head."

Do you have any skills that may benefit or harm The Council?

"My... ability may be of use to you. I won't use it on anyone, though. Not if I don't have to."

Would you be willing to work undercover on behalf of The Council against The Rebels?

"If I don't have to, I won't. Will that be all? Am I free to go now?"

"Kevin Osborne, but I go by Oz. 30 years old."

Tell us your height, weight, and any other distinguishing features that we may use for easier recognition of your person. 

"5 foot 7, last I've checked. 163 pounds I think." 

State for the record the places that you frequent most often. 

Kevin exhaled a puff of breath, "God -- The Goat, I grade papers there often, or The Library.. and The Infirmary, of course. In a school like this one, students are always getting beat up through their training. I wish the rigor wasn't so strict, though I suppose it makes sense why." 

Tell us about your upbringing. 

"I helped my dad out for the most part. Elites weren't safe much where we lived, so he'd take in the broken and the bruised and nurse them back to health. They paid with what they could afford, so that's music or wrist watches or apples in the summer. Of course I had to steal his thunder when we learned what I could do, but," he shrugged, "It was nice while it lasted. I mean it could be scary at times, but nice." 

Tell us how you arrived at The Nightingale Haven and for what reason. 

He laughed, "You can blame Christopher Jennings for that. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for him. I'm rather good at what I do, and he recognized that- he recognized me. Offered me a job at The Haven, and how could I refuse that?" 

What is your influence within The Nightingale Institute? 

"Haven't got much. Aside for the classes I teach, the students only come to me if they break their bones. I patch them up and tell them to be more careful."  

In your opinion, who is the cement of The Institute — the one who manages to keep everyone together? 

"Christopher Jennings. I don't know where we'd be without him." 

What is your understanding of The Rebel War meant to destroy mankind? 

"God the whole thing's a ruddy mess, innit?" Kevin pursed his lips, "Conflict, betrayal, and senseless bloodshed disguised as justice." 

Are you aware of any Rebel base camps within The Nightingale Haven? 

"No, not at all." 

Are there any students or groups of students who you could see as a threat to the safety of The Havens? 

"I don't speak with the students much." 

Do you have any skills that may benefit or harm The Council? 

"Benefit, perhaps, if you'd have me." 

Would you be willing to work undercover on behalf of The Council against The Rebels?

"I'd do a bloody awful job at it."

The silver watch wrapped around his wrist ticked loudly to his ears, the professor cleared his throat, pulled at the cuffs of his shirt and sat down in the seat presented to him. Gaze lifting to the other Elite sat opposite.

"Christopher Jennings, thirty eight."

Tell us your height, weight, and any other distinguishing features that we may use for easier recognition of your person.

"Six foot exactly or one point eight three meters. Seventy Nine Kilograms or one hundred and seventy four pounds. Blue eyes."

State for the record the places that you frequent most often.

"...My office, the gym."

Tell us about your upbringing.

Briefly looking to the empty corner of the room, naturally starting to feel uneasy with the questions. "Tough. I believe that many would see the Jennings family as... a happy family, some might even say a perfect one. We have been lucky enough to not have had the Rebels drive us apart but this does not mean that we do not come with our own problems. I spent as much time as I could with Richard and of course when Shawn came along, life seemed infinitely better... I was under a lot of pressure to achieve highly in all aspects and everything I did; meaning there are a lot of things that I missed in being a child, a few birthdays missed for entrance exams, no time for play when there are interviews for higher education. But even so, by no means do I resent this."

Tell us how you arrived at The Nightingale Haven and for what reason.

"Partly for the job. Mostly because of the safety."

What is your influence within The Nightingale Institute?

"My brothers, they definitely influence me a lot." he paused, "As well as, Jacobsen, Loughlin, Osbourne, Wallis... everyone."

In your opinion, who is the cement of The Institute — the one who manages to keep everyone together?  

"I certainly try to, whether I succeed or not is another matter. I have to commend Michael's work though, he maintains a good level of pastoral care for students and I think he certainly holds the institute together."

What is your understanding of The Rebel War meant to destroy mankind?

"...I have a good idea."

Are you aware of any Rebel base camps within The Nightingale Haven?

"No."

Are there any students or groups of students who you could see as a threat to the safety of The Havens?

"Not at the moment."

Do you have any skills that may benefit or harm The Council?

"I think you are well aware of them."

Would you be willing to work undercover on behalf of The Council against The Rebels?

"For the safety of the students and future Elites and of course, family. Without a doubt."

Tell us your height, weight, and any other distinguishing features that we may use for easier recognition of your person. 

"Ah, shit I don’t know. Like 5"5’ maybe and I’m about 120lbs. My hair is brownish.. For now, sometimes I dye it more red, sometimes more brown. My eyebrows are pretty distinguishing I guess? My eyes are hazel. I wear a size 6, bra size 32B…  "

State for the record the places that you frequent most often. 

"Why? I do to school, home.. sometimes the library.. Sometimes the Mad Batter…"

Tell us about your upbringing. 

"It was good. Happy I guess. I grew up with my brother, Callum. And mum and dad. We all get along well, very close family. Never did anything without Cal when I was little. We used to pretend we were twins, now we just accept the fact that we are really twins. We were always pretty happy until Cal got sick. But we try our best to be okay. Mum and Dad have always been there for us. They support me, my art, anything I want to do they cater to my needs. They took me to France just so I could work a bit, and do some art over there. I wanted to be a bit more cultured. There’s only so many times a girl can paint the docks. Um. I don’t really know what else you want to know. Just that my upbringing was pretty good. I’m very lucky and extremely thankful for everything I have because I know there are people who don’t have it and that makes me very sad. But yeah…" 

Tell us how you arrived at The Nightingale Haven and for what reason. 

"I was born here.. The reason? Because my parents were horny little rabbits when they had Cal I guess."

What is your influence within The Nightingale Institute? 

"My influence? I don’t really know what you’re talking about. My art I guess? Does that count as an influence? I don’t know.. My brother too I guess. Influence? I don’t really understand the question. I’m a freshman here and I’m majoring in Art.. I don't really influence anyone."

In your opinion, who is the cement of The Institute — the one who manages to keep everyone together?  

"I don’t know. These questions are weird. It’s the councils job right? And the Dean... So them I guess… But I guess Mr Jennings does a pretty good job?"

What is your understanding of The Rebel War meant to destroy mankind? 

"I don’t really know much actually. I mean, we do history and all that, but really I just know that it can be dangerous, and I know to be careful. I know that they’re horrible people and they do the worst things. Friend’s of mine have lost so much because of them.. It needs to be stopped. So maybe instead of interviewing children about this, you should be doing something to fix it." 

Are you aware of any Rebel base camps within The Nightingale Haven? 

"No? Why would I know anything about that?"

Are there any students or groups of students who you could see as a threat to the safety of The Havens? 

"Yeah! I hang out with evil people all the time! Who do you really think I am? I have never even met a truly bad person in my life… Is it really that bad that you think a 17 year old’s friends could be Rebels? Although I guess these days anyone could be a rebel in disguise. But no, I don't think so.. Fuck man this is heavy shit."

Do you have any skills that may benefit or harm The Council? 

"I don’t think so. I can burp my ABC’s? ha.. ha.. that was a joke, God.. Smile a bit dude. Illusion manipulation isn’t that great of a power. All I can do it make people think something is happening, when it’s not. And Even then it doesn’t last long, I’m only a 2.5 level.. I don’t really think I could benefit the Council with that at all.."

Would you be willing to work undercover on behalf of The Council against The Rebels? 

"Uh, not really my thing.. I guess if I had to. If it meant the difference between protecting people I love then yeah I guess I’d have to.. But I don’t think I’m exactly the person you’re looking for…"
