You know what I'm thinking about? Buggy staying for Ace and Whitebeard's burial and realising only in that moment, watching the tombstones in front of him and Shanks who that freckled young man was. "He truly was Captain's son, uh?" He asks rhetorically, because now that he thinks about it Roger was as narcoleptic as him and he ate as much as him and they had the same smile. "Did you meet him before this?" Shanks summarises their brief encounter in a single sentence and asks "did you?". He did, and strangely it pains him to remember, now that he knows.
"Does that mean he's like our- little brother?"
Shanks doesn't answer, but Buggy can still read him like an open book and he sees he's been fidgeting with the idea from long before it was too late and Buggy gets mad because he could have had it too but he's only thought about it now and no one told him and he's dead and he was Straw Hats' brother before he was his and why can everyone have that when he's alone and Ace was a good guy and didn't deserve to be another sacrificial lamb for the new era and he saw how those shit heads almost bowed in front of Shanks and his half royal ass and he suddenly remembers why he hates the man in front of him.
"You could have saved him". Shanks stops breathing. "You could have gotten here earlier, could have ended the war with a flicker of your wrist, but you decided to sit your ass and let destiny handle it just like you always do.
Like a fucking coward".
He cries. Roger is dead, Ace is dead, and Shanks is nothing but a ghost.
Buggy isn't a son anymore. He couldn't even be a brother.
