Bag Notes: Bag Talk 2
One thing that excites me when I visit thrift shops are their bag collection. Remembered having a random thrift shop visit with my batch mates before. It was the place to go to every time we wish of wearing unique pieces for presentations, etc. It works very well with our budget, and it does not sacrifice the materials needed for our plates. One problem though was the rarity of finding good quality bags at thrift shops in Manila (Baguio thrift shop-building has all of them under one roof!).
So imagine the happiness when I saw this bag at one of the thrift shops in Manila. I just had to buy it. It wasn't really inexpensive, but the material lasted for almost 2 years now. And the uncle made sure it looks clean after I bought it. Best site bag ever.
It was also my Beijing travel bag (photo from I. Sicam)
The next big thing I bought from Bangkok are the bags (One for the mother and the sister and for myself). I was really hoping to buy a leather version of this but can't seem to find the same bag silhouette made of leather (Plus leather bags inside specialty stores are expensive! Wrong location to buy a leather bag daw). I found one made of leatherette at Platinum Fashion Mall (or was it the mall beside Platinum?). If my conversion is right, the bag roughly costs 300-500pesos. This was also my bag of 2011. The only problem though is how the handle can easily break with all the things I put inside the spacious bag. I tend to bring a lot of things and a few months of use already destroyed the handle. So much for leatherette.
2011 was the year I lusted for Cambridge Satchels. I cannot really put a bulk of my money on expensive bags, so instead of buying one, I asked the auntie to buy me an alternative. She was able to find one in dark green and gave it to me as a "pasalubong" last year. Not a Cambridge, but a leather satchel. I call it my "Larch Satchel" because of the color.

The bag was also a perfect match to the "color blocking" trend of 2011. Or atleast I
made it look apt for the trend in this mix-and-match combo. HAHA.
This year, we visited Solenad at Nuvali to check Aldo's Liquidation Store. It was a shoe lovers' heaven. I started wearing more flats this year so I wasn't really happy with all the heels around me in this photo above. What made me swipe the card was this black bag that resembles a smaller version of my black bowling bag at my previous blog post.
I've been using this black bag since March! It was way overused and definitely one of the most spacious "small" bags I ever bought. I would have done a "what's in my bag" to show you how spacious it really was.
Last May 2012, I added another pink backpack to my collection of pinkness just because I needed one for our trip to the Nagsasa cove. I was hoping to buy a Jansport (just because my old Teal Jansport gave up on me) but then there was no hot pink color when I went searching for one. I found one at Hawk gear, and yay for local brands (Probably made in the Philippines!:) Supporting "gawang Pinoy"). I currently use it, specifically during rainy days when I needed a waterproof bag for my laptop, etc. It was also helpful when we were stranded this semester. We put all our valuables inside this bag when we braved the flood to walk and go home.
My recent buy (or gift to me by someone just because I finally did my thesis. haha!) was this Vedasto woven bag that I was saving up for the past few months. I was really hoping for the woven bag with a color similar to the first bag on my bag list, but the day I bought this bag was also the day they released a new dark brown color. And yes, proudly "Gawang Pinoy!" as well!
And because someone paid for my bag, I used my money instead for my mother's bag. HAHA!:) We now have Vedasto's to strut for the last quarter of 2012. To know more about Vedasto and it's humble beginnings, click here. To visit their website, click here. Their website needs a lot of improvement and updating, but atleast you get an idea of what their company can produce for us Pinoys.
