Asexual: experiencing little to no sexual attraction. Often shortened to "ace"

Allosexual aromantic/aromantic allosexual: An aromantic person who experiences sexual attraction. Shortened as either "alloaro" or "aroallo"

Aromantic asexual/aro-ace/aroace: describing a person as both aromantic and asexual.

Non-SAM aro: an aromantic person who does not use the Split Attraction Model that separates sexual and romantic feelings (among others) to define their orientation. Often also called "just aro"

Aromantic erasure and side-lining is frustrating for a variety of reasons but not the least of which the sociopolitical application aromanticism has to things like feminist theory and disabled & queer rights advocacy and housing reform and critiques of institutional marriage & family. Like people are theoretically cool with both aromantics and pushing one or all of the latter issues but because aromanticism usually isn't actually taken seriously, aromantic perspectives go largely ignored outside of aromantic-focused circles. And then when there's gaps, especially in mainstream discourse and advocacy on any of the above topics (ex. the expectation for women to marry, on the cost of housing/the expectations of whom one houses with, care work, etc) aromantic perspectives could fill in quite a bit! One could argue that leaving out people who are (by choice) permanently single in these discussions can turn them toothless. But aromantic people actually just don't do anything and/or are just sick perverts, or something, so there's no need to take us too seriously. They put our pride flag on an LGBTQ+ information flyer so we're like totally included now and they can call it a day.

#idk man it's just weird that aros are metaphorically being told to sit at the kids table while the real adults talk. especially when one of #the issues faced by aromantics is not being seen as real adults because of one's (lack of a) love life. like ik i'm reading into it but ugh #we genuinely have new perspectives to add on a lot of agreed to be important topics that need more intersectional analysis #but no one particularly feels like platforming aros except for other aros (who pretty much have an audience consisting of just more aros)#and some polyam folks. but we're pretty much just preaching to the choir.#one of these days i will pull myself together and draft up some quasi-academic aromanticism bullshit instead of just complaining #however in this case i do think just complaining but like being somewhat specific about what irks me is part of the process #i think we should all get more annoying about aromanticism and i fervently believe that complaining is a key part of it.#hawk screech #actually aromantic #queer stuff #issues #aromantic erasure #ask to tag

[Lying to myself:] Woah I can't believe they brought back Legends-style cloning in disney Star Wars... if you're going to do it then do it like in Heir to the Empire— when it was introduced with the character Joruus C'aboth; what a neat reference to Thrawn's first appearance! —it should be some years after the New Republic is established :). Our Sabine was obviously replaced with force-sensitive clone Sabiine. Actual Sabine must've headed out on the search for Ezra earlier and hasn't come back... hope she's doing well and makes it home... miss you girl... Clearly this is the only explaination for Sabi(i)ne to be force-sensitive and they didn't mess her character up badly! Haha I bet the non-legends fans are totally confused about why Sabi(i)ne just seems a little bit off all the time ;)

trying to find recipes online when you have allergies is maddening. I'll be like oh I'd like to make pancakes from scratch and I have this coconut flour I need to use, I'll try looking up some egg-free coconut flour pancake recipes online :) and then all the results are VEGAN KETO SUGAR-FREE nonsense and now it's like you're putting words in my mouth I need none of that. put down the almond milk. and stop telling me to buy avocado oil because I'm Allergic to That. Just tell me how much sugar (yes, sugar! a thing I am not allergic to and fully tolerant of) to put in these godforsaken pancakes. And then I take off egg-free so I can just figure out a substitution myself and it gets worse somehow.

something that I just Really liked in Frozen 2 is how at every single opportunity when Anna had to choose between Kristoff and Elsa -and there were many- she always picked Elsa. In and out of universe, it’s made clear that when it comes down to the wire, Anna’s most important person is her sister. There’s no way Kristoff could possibly be unaware of this fact, and while there are times it does hurt that he’s not his most important person (Anna)’s most important person, he accepts this and goes ahead with proposing to her anyway. Knowing that even if he’s not her number 1, what’s more important is that he and Anna do love each other and will build the rest of their lives together. And when she’s off chasing down Elsa, he’ll be waiting for when she needs him or her return
